Guides on emulating older games

The fastest, most compatible, and most modular Doom engine available for PowerPC and early Intel. Version 2.8.1 is recommended for Mac OS X Leopard and up, and version 2.7.1 is recommended for Mac OS X Tiger.

From the website:

"For help getting started, see (https://zdoom.org/wiki/Installation_and_execution_of_ZDoom). You need to provide your own game IWAD. If you do not have a copy of a doom-engine game, the easiest way to obtain them is to purchase them from (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2280/Ultimate_Doom/) or (https://doomwiki.org/wiki/GOG.com). When you download them from either of these stores, ZDoom will automatically find them."

Compatibility
Architecture: PPC x86 (Intel:Mac)

2.7.1 - Mac OS X Tiger

2.8.1 - Mac OS X Leopard

So on testing, it's Good Old Fashioned Doom (no dumb vitamin pill logos in place of red crosses on health packs!), BUT it is NOT accelerated AT ALL. MUCH more demanding than Doom legacy and has no modern lighting effects or the like.

I keep a copy of doom in my fridge, spanned across 24 floppy discs so mom doesn't know what it is.
