This game works with: SheepShaver, Basilisk II, Mini vMac

"The original commercially-licensed version of Alexey Pajitnov's classic Tetris puzzle game. Geometric shapes fall from the top of a playfield to rest on the bottom; fit the pieces together, and the line they form disappears. If the pieces don't form lines and eventually stack up to the top of the playfield, the game is over. Difficulty increases by dropping the pieces faster and faster over time.

Tetris is a verifiable classic game, translated to well over 200 electronic and computer platforms. It takes 2 minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master."

Architecture: 68k

Mac Plus or later, System 6 or later, supports B/W or 256 colors. Depending on which version is used, there may be issues with sound on a PowerPC Macintosh.

Added two cheaters for Tetris. "Invisible hand" and "Tetris Buster" are both control panels that give you some more "flexibility" about the blocks the program will send your way ... Smile

If you had used an Apple ][ at its time, you would remember J K L M Wink
J to move left, L to move right, Space to drop.
There must be a key to turn a piece as well.

Same here, smurfetteaussie. On a Sierra host, no sound in Basilisk II or MiniVMac II.
Sound is working in MiniVMac (Mac Plus emulation) so it seems.
No idea how to control the bricks, the 4-5-6 keys do nothing on my lappy.

How did you resolve the sound issues?? Do you have a download I can have?? I loved this game back in the day, but it's not the same playing it without sound...

I am using Basilisk II 7.5.3

The game works fine with System 6.x on a Mac Plus, but the controls are SH1T! There isn't any to chenge them, right?

Hmm, tried both downloads, it force-closes SheepShaver on 9.0.4 on startup, tried all resolution and colour settings to no avail.

Haven't had any luck with sound, in Basilisk II, so non-PPC (7.6.1 I think). Unfortuantely, the Tetris Gold download isn't available either, due to the bandwidth-issues thing. =/

Regarding the sound issue-- I don't have time to sort through these Tetris versions again, but from what I recall, there were patches made available by Spectrum Holobyte for most or all of the games that eventually wound up on the Tetris Gold CD:
On that CD, a couple of the games had already been patched, and for the upload to this site I included the patches for the remaining games on that disc that had not already been patched. So anyone wanting to upload a patched Tetris should first try the different versions on the site and see if it hasn't already been taken care of.

I hope that helps!

I've found a way to solve sound issues and i've patched the game. It works both with Sheepshaver (Os 9) and with Basilisk II (Os 7.5.3). How can i upload the patched version?

The link to the second archive I uploaded ages ago doesn't work. Is there any way to fix that, Balrog? I'd like to remove that mirror link; I only provided it as a temporary solution until the upload became available.

I left the first archive untouched; it appears to be the same as the version of Tetris from the Tetris Gold CD. My own archive of that Tetris Gold version is available from the Old Mac Archive. The second archive is of a floppy version and related files found elsewhere on the web.

Doesn't seem to work with SheepShaver. Can anyone confirm?
