Guides on emulating older games

Opensource clone/remake of "Transport Tycoon Deluxe" (TTD) a PC game circa 1995.

dL 1 is the new opensource gamedata (2020 release).
dL 2 is version 1.3.1 from 2013, highest working in PowerPC Tiger/Leopard.
dL 3 is version 1.3.2 from 2013, highest working in Tiger on intel.
dL 4 is version 1.8.0 from 2018, highest for Snow Leopard and Leopard (intel).

Project began in 2004. Version numbers seems to correlate with its year, so that roughly in 2009 the versions were 0.9.x and now in 2020 the latest versions are 1.10.x. Project is still going strong at openttd dot org and each build contains readme files describing numerous known bugs and other issues, the latest versions have left PowerPC Mac behind long ago, and so these older versions certainly meet the criteria for 'abandonware'.

Builds are distributed without the game data. One could import the data (graphics, sound, music) from any genuine 1990's CD on the game's PeeCee version, or alternatively, the datasets have also been remade. The latest (2020) edition of recreated datasets seem to run fine when plugged into these older executable versions. Copy the data "baseset" named folder into the folder that has the app file.

This was refined with a fine tooth comb for eight years from 2004 to the Tiger version 2013, that's a loong time. Then with my PowerMac testing MorphOS there I'm running the very latest 2020 Transport Tycoon version 1.10.3 (another eight years of fine toothing gone by) ported/built by a guy porting/doing a lot.
