Comments
I have a phyisical copy of this game that I spent years playing on OS9 - including I believe 9.2.2. I will pull it out and do some testing. I prefer the original, but this is IMO the best historical TBS 4X franchise aside from Civilization, and one of the best TBS franchises ever.
My experience: it launches under 9.2.2, but try switching between the different screens of the game and you're soon locked out by an "unknown error" message.
I have just uploaded a full hybrid English version that I constructed by adding the audio partition from the French version to the hybrid game partition obtained from the torrent listed further below. The resultant CD seems to be OK on both Mac and Win.
Supposedly not compatible with Mac OS 9, but I found that it worked with Mac OS 9.2.2 (no emulation), but stopped working after I applied the patch. So YMMV
I converted the nero image referred to below, converted it to bin/cue and made a link here.
I downloaded the torrent linked by Innes, and it installed ok into sheepshaver, but whenever I open it I get an 'unknown error'. Anyone else encounter and solve this issue? I have already tried upping the RAM allotment.
It turns out that Imperialism's hybrid CD game is available from here : http://www.abandonware-france.org/ltf_abandon/ltf_jeu.php?id=1086 as a Nero image file.
Should a new page be created for it, pointing to that external URL ? And should the game be uploaded to the garden aswell ?
Edit: Alas, I downloaded the nero image file but toast 5.0.2 cannot mount it. I tried converting it to iso using nrg2iso utility, but then mounting the resulting image in basilisk or sheepshaver only shows an audio track... I'll have to look for my own CD ! Or someone may have another solution / explanation ?
I think I have "Imperialism I" taking dust somewhere ... wil check that this week-end. But, it may be a french version
The version upload here is missing the PC version, i noticed the disk image when de-compressed was 73megs and as only the mac installer and a data file was present, its reasonable to assume its disregarded everything else
No, just a disposable email address to set up an account where the uploads expire after either 30 or 90 days since the last download.
Or you can upload without an account, and I think they expire after 7 days since last download.
You don't have to, it would just make a few people happy. And they would thank you personally here. If you can't spare the bandwidth, I'll go for the torrent. or buy it for £3.99 (again), and upload it myself.
Right you lot, if this gets uploaded show your thanks. Or we think twice about making the effort in the future.
well, theres nothing wrong with the torrent.
I could upload it, for sure, but isn't a subscription required for an upload that lasts?
Just tested, the torrent works well and the game seems to operate fine as far as i can tell, not actually been able to play it as my old mac runs 9.1 and it wont run on sheepshaver. I wander if whoever tested it with sheepshaver and checked the compatibility box here would be able to specify how they were running it ^_^

Found a torrent, its mac compatible
The .rar is just under 300mb, dunno why the download here is so small
Unfortunately not :/
Isn't this below the file size that the site can host?
I used to have this game, as I recall reading once, It appearently doesn't work with systems 9.1+(maybe 9.0 or 9.4, I can't remember exactly) below system 9 you're probably safe. From what I remember though, this was a great game, a big improvement on its already great predaccessor.
