Emulation
Guides on emulating older games

This sequel to the highly addictive and fiendishly fun original, Hordes of Orcs 2 elevates Tower Defense gaming to new levels of intensity. "The Glowing Portal of Really Bad Things That We Should Have Bricked-Up a Long Time Ago" has been foolishly un-bricked again, and the Orcs are back. And they are angrier and hungrier than ever before.

Defend your castle from destruction by strategically building walls to redirect the flow of the onslaught, and then spend your money on the right combination of defense towers to defeat the attacking forces. Choose carefully from Arrow Towers, Radiation Towers, Fire Towers and the all-new Railgun Tower, as each enemy has different tolerances. And don,t forget to use your handy spells: casting Fog will slow them down, Weaken inflicts damage to all enemies, Bait will distract the Orcs with an irresistible basket of shitake mushrooms and dung, and Teleport will transport enemies back to the Portal from whence they came. But if 20 Orcs make it into your castle, it's game over -- you are toast! It's an action game of strategy, cunning, and resource management, with six different challenging game modes in which to do battle. The Orcs are hungry -- can you stop the Hordes? (ign.com)

DL #1 is an original demo version of the game

DL #2 is the full game (MacGameStore DRM) with upload and serial number thanks to Scott Praed . The game application has a bug whereby a Force-Quit is needed to terminate the application after you have started playing a game. Because of this I suggest you change the game display to "windowed" rather than "full screen" to allow easy access to the Finder menu bar.

License code: BQGA-AHEU-SUEV-ZFED

DL #3 is DL #2 with the DRM removed. It suffers from the same Force-Quit bug as above.

Hi Scott. If you are unable to run some of your MGS games, you might be able to play them if you open them directly rather than use the MGS application. If that doesn't work, you are welcome to send me an email to discuss offline how I made DL#3

We've recently updated the security on our server, so it now requires TLS 1.2 to connect. That means Mac OS X 10.10 and earlier are no longer supported.

Yes, we recently brought our server more up to date on security, and versions of macOS prior to 10.11 don't have the required version of TLS. So older Macs aren't able to download files that require login. Possibly not any, at all, if the website and associated files aren't loading, either.

As for 32bit versus 64bit support, I think you may be thinking of Apple's recent changes to macOS beginning with macOS 10.15 Catalina. Catalina and Big Sur (macOS 11) can't launch 32bit apps, including older game apps. They can only launch 64bit apps.

It is interesting that you're using a PowerPC Mac and that Apple has just announced another chip transition from Intel to their own Apple SoCs, like the first transition from PowerPC to Intel back in 2006. The first Apple Silicon Macs will be released this fall. If you wait a little while to purchase your next Mac, you may be able to skip all 14 years of the Intel era, completely.

Don't be sorry. It is not your fault. Anyway, the game itself DOES seem to work. You just have to use a Force-Quit to stop the application when you have finished playing. Also it is good to have a full version here and I thank you for uploading it. It would be interesting to have an exact (full) copy of the version that Freeverse sold to see if it suffers from the same bug, and for historical purposes.

I tried it and it did same to you. The game cannot quit after that. I force to Quit. The opening movie of game continue to play after you tried to end the game. Mac game store did not fix the bug after you quit the game. I sorry the game did not work.

&scott Praed. Yes, it quits OK before you start playing. But if I start playing a game, then I cannot quit after that. What happens when you try this?
