This game works with: Mini vMac

It was a pleasure to burn.
- First line of the book

Rather than an adaptation, this is a sequel to Bradbury's novel. Five years after Guy Montag turned on them, the book-burners have only tightened their grip on America. The underground assigns Guy to infiltrate a New York library where banned literature is stockpiled for destruction. Doing so will require him to make contact with the local resistance and acquire the means to mask his identity.

I'm thrilled to be participating in the evolution of my Fahrenheit 451 into a computer adventure. For anybody curious about what happens to Montag after the book ends, or about what science fiction software might be, here is an exciting place to start.
- Ray Bradbury, package blurb

Though Bradbury contributes ideas to Preiss, he isn't interested in doing the work himself - he trusts his longtime friend Preiss to render the work faithfully. Will Bradbury be able to complete the game when it comes out? "I'll try," he says with a laugh. "Wouldn't it be awful if I were no good at it?"

Important: This game is not compatible with the Mini vMac emulator (last tested with v3.1.3.) It requires a physical compact Macintosh such as a 128K, 512K, or Plus.

Indeed, MESS 0.142 running the Mac Plus ROM does seem to run it quite well.

This has come up on eBay UK, an Apple II version. Is there a chance that the version here is also for Apple II ?

Many thanks for this upload. I'd love to see the other Telarium stuff.

The game is apparently playable with the Mac emulation of M.E.S.S. 0.137 ! The quit button didn't work for me, and there may be other bugs.

Hmmm. Authoritarian control. Mass brainwashing. Burning of books. I LIKE this story, but I must find a way to make it work with Mini vMac. End of line.
