Crossword Wizard
Create your own crosswords, or generate a random crossword using supplied clues.
- DL #1: Disk Wizard in a Disk Copy 6.x (compressed) image file in a StuffIt 5.5 compatible ".sit" archive.
This .sit enclosed Disk Copy image must be mounted from inside a classic Mac systems HD if wanting to access this ".img" in an emulator.
- DL #2: Disk Wizard in a .ISO image and .zip compressed. This one is suitable to extract onto a host OS and be added to a list of mountable disk drives in a Macintosh emulator such as Basilisk II or Sheepshaver. It will also mount by dragging the .iso into a Mini vMac window. - If extracting this archive from within a classic Mac system, use MacZip to extract and the Virtual CD/DVD Utility to mount.
Compatibility
Architecture: 68k PPC
Requires a 68020 or higher CPU.
Crossword Wizard is 68k and PPC native (FAT), the accompanying IdeaWizard is 68k only (OK in PPC Mac).
Crossword Wizard can run directly from the mounted disk image, or copied into an HD and run from there.
Runs OK in Basilisk II and SheepShaver.
Runs OK in 68020 Mac II variation build of Mini vMac (screenshot #3).
Comments
many thanks!
The issue is that I used an older version of Disk Copy 6.1, under emulator btw..
I was able to expand and mount this OK in Basilisk II running Mac OS 7.6.1, so I cannot replicate any errors with it. - Have since also run it OK in SheepShaver (Mac OS 7.6.1) and Min vMac II (Mac OS 7.1.1).
Only thing I noticed was that StuffIt Expander v.5.5 took 2 or 3 minutes to extract the file, but otherwise it's just a typical Disk Copy 6 image file that extracts, and double-clicking it mounted it OK for me onto B2's desktop.
Requires; Disk Copy 6.1 or newer installed to mount the image. If using an emulator, mount the extracted ".img" from inside an emulated HD to enable mounting, not mounted from within a shared HD or shared desktop.
[Edit] I think I can see what you were doing. Guessing that you were trying to add the "img" as a disk drive in an emulator's GUI before starting up the emulator? If so that's not going to work. The original uploader created a Disk Copy 6 (Compressed format) image before Stuffing it for upload. Disk Copy 6 compressed format is incompatible with an emulator as a mountable HD. It has to be extracted inside the emulated HD and OS if you want to get anywhere with it.
I've uploaded a non compressed .iso version in a zipped archive as the 2nd DL that you may prefer to try.
sorry to comment this, but I totally fail to mount this image. expands ok (4MB img)
but there is no way to expand/mount. any clue? thanks in advance
This came with some copies of Mac OS 7. I remember it on my Performa.
Yeah, the voices are awesome.

I tested this one in Basilisk II with Mac OS 7. It runs great. I really dig the voices.
