"As the game title implies, Al Unser, Jr. Arcade Racing is an action oriented racing game. While the game is set in the IndyCar racing league, not all 15 courses feature the trademark oval design; some of them are with curves and chicanes.
The game is designed for quick and easy experience, which means the only diversion from pushing the gas pedal is using the manual gear shifting - and this can be deactivated. There are overall three playing modes (plus multiplayer): practice, a championship with all 15 courses and a checkpoint race on any course." --MobyGames.com
CompatibilityThe game is optimized for PPC and works under SheepShaver.
Issues : game's running speed is timed on a strange manner and so is unplayable on recent (in PPC Macintoshes context) hardware.

can you explain more about you working with them? I'm curious. thanks
ps. I love how you can get air, if you get enough speed and time it right
It's playable on my iMac G3 for some reason. I'm embarrassed to ask this, but does anyone here know how to setup a networked race? I see no mention of networking in the menus, even though I read online that the PC version does that, and yet I found that there are network related menus by looking into it with ResEdit.
I still had the original disk at home. It's unplayable on a G3 for me as well.
I've added the full version found on a cover CD. It is tagged "Optimized for Power Macintosh" and contains GB/US/IT/SP/DE/FR versions of the game.
I tried it under SheepShaver and it works, but is way too fast to be playable.
I recall playing it on a Performa 5200 with no trouble, but it was a bit too fast on Yosemite G3. I wonder if game's timing is based upon motherboard's speed.
This is now a Disk Copy 6.3 image, stuffed with Stuffit 5.
When I was a kid, I've passed countless hours playing this great game, as well as with "Fury of the Furries" from the same authors... with who I now work quite frequently
! That's a strange feeling
Only OK? This was my all-time favourite racing game until many years later I discovered Colin McCrae Rally (and a 3Dfx Voodoo2 card!)
My (backed up) version of Al Unser Racing.SIT has a very nasty mac virus - could someone please scan this version (with Virex 5.5+) and check that it is clean?!
its an OK game
