Reminiscent of Diablo, but instead of maps, the game consists of eighteen 3D globes. There are no boundaries, you can walk all the way around the globe if you want to. This does get somewhat confusing at times though. In order to move to the next globe, you have to find all the pieces of a stone disk.

However, your enemies will also pick up the disk pieces and you have to defeat them to get them back. When you die, you are reincarnated at your "oracle", a stone structure which you have to defend. If your oracle is destroyed, you can no longer be resurrected. This is also true for your enemies.

Recently Knowble Design released the newest version of their game, aGORA. The original release of aGORA drew much criticism from game magazines and news sites. I have all along supported aGORA, and with the release of the 1.2 version late last year, I was quite happy with the game. Version 1.4 adds a slew of new features that enhance, improve, and convert aGORA into virtually a new game.

The game looks simply fantastic. There are now atmospheric effects, System 8.5 compatibility, better particle effects, better explosions, better responsiveness, everything is better. The one feature of this update that is the most notable is that the graphics textures have been completely remade. They look much more organic and fun.

The game moves better too, this was first incorporated in release 1.2, but now improved with release 1.4. It is fast, fun, and I can't stop playing it. Anyone who played an earlier version of this game really should give it another look! You are missing out on a whole lot if you don't.

I had a sudden surge of nostalgia recently and was looking up game play videos of this on YouTube like this one makes me wish I still had my old iMac G3 so I could play this, I just can't get it to work with Sheepshaver.

Thanks for the uploads guy, the content available on this site might just make me go hunting on eBay for an old iMac Smile

Having recently gained access to a good broadband connection, I've uploaded a zipped file containing the CD image of aGORA: Soul of the Oracle, on my 4shared page that can be found via the link above.

Note that the game may not launch if later versions of Drawsprocket are activated in the extensions.

This is one of the finest Mac-exclusive titles, combining elements of the action, RPG and strategy genres to create a game quite unlike any other I've tried. Even a decade after it was released, I still enjoy playing its excellent skirmish mode - and my only regret is that it didn't have a sequel or two.
