That worked. Thank you!
Extract the archive from the .zip file then drag the ".dsk" icon over onto the icon of the Disk Copy 6.3 application's icon (or an alias to the app icon) and let the mouse go. This will mount the .dsk file here.
If it doesn't, then use MacZip to do the zip extraction on your classic Mac OS then try dragging the extracted .dsk back over onto Disk Copy's icon.
I can't seem to mount the dsk file in native os 9.2.2 I am kind of new to this and used to working with the DMG files in OSx so I am kind of lost. I tried using the mount option in shrink wrap and it says nothing at al. I chose the .dsk file and nothing happens except the window dissapears. Nothing mounts on desktop. I tried disk copy 6.3.3 and it refuses to mount and give an error. Any help?
Thanks for the replies (again),
checked with locked and unlocked disk image, but System 6 still complains in both cases.
When I initialize a disk in Mac OS 7, it mounts fine in System 6, too. So Mac OS 7 seems to write the "Desktop" file fine. I've no idea what's going wrong at my side, but if it works fine for other peoples, I'm quietly now.
Edit: Changed 'xxx 7' to 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User
Bertyboy is correct, when using a locked disk image with Mini vMac and System 6 this is what happens. I had assumed IIGS_User was using unlocked images. I don't know about other emulators, but Mini vMac does not work well with locked or read-only images; it expects to be able to write to everything! I always keep a locked or archived backup and use only unlocked copies with it.
We discussed it briefly before. System 6 and before used the "Desktop" file - which is missing from the locked disc image - so it can't display the mounted image in the Finder.
Mac OS 7 and later (up to OS9) use the "Desktop DB" and "Desktop DF" which are apparently present, allowing it to mount.
Edit: Changed 'xxx 7' to 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User
I've no idea why my Mini vMac with System 6 installed won't mount these '.dsk' disk images:
But anyway, any higher Mac OS System software (7.0 and up, in Mini vMac and even in Bas and Sheep), mounts them fine.
Away from that, thanks for this nice addition.
