For Mac OS 9 - Mac OS X
Guides on emulating older games

It's been done many times, but this is top-notch execution of the Xevious-Battle Squadron-Active Lancer-Deimos Rising ... this time done entirely in Flashplayer. Two versions here, one embedded in Flash v7.0 plays (Carbonized) in classic Mac OS 9 and early OS X, the other is embedded in StandAlone Adobe Flash Player v9.0 and works (Universal Binary) in at least OSX 10.2 thru 10.8 maybe even higher/lower OSX than that. Incredible range. Game can be run with blocked networking. Default is mouse controller, if you wish keyboard controls then choose it before starting, and remember the Z key fires weapons.

This is freeware, there are about one hundred Free flash games on the authors site:

Some of the better runs-older-Flash games in their set of free ones:
Birdy (640x480 or 640x512), Spaceman1, Sub Wars (640x480), Air Wolf aka "X-Wing Tournament" all can run in Flash 7. "Tribal Shooter" is cute but needs newer than Flash 7.0
