Do we not have a "report spam" button on here? Just a note that the spammer double posted.

No. But there is a "sticky" link to a topic called "Spammers listed here", in the "This Website" forum. If you can be moved to report spam.

For some reason unknown to me, the "Public Access File Repository !" topic is targeted 3 or 4 times a week at least and it's always a double-(sometimes triple)-up spam post. So when ever I see this topic appear in the tracker, it's the first thing that I'll check for and remove when I see it.

The FTP seems to be down:

$ ftp repo1.macintoshgarden.org
ftp: Can't connect to `158.174.73.78:21': Network is unreachable
ftp: Can't connect to `repo1.macintoshgarden.org:ftp'

Will it return?

We're aware of the issue, unfortunately it will be down for a couple of hours due to working hours (requires an admin on location). Post will be updated once everything is back in order.

Update: Service is back online.

Thanks, but it won't work on 10.7.5 "Lion" using fetch, and Mac OS X's built-in server connector. I tried both servers and they don't work. Any ideas?

Sounds like you're getting the username and password wrong.
Tried it from a remote location with success.

tried it with these informations: sftp://repo1.macintoshgarden.org, un: macgarden, pw: publicdl, port 22. Nothing happens Sad Still getting the authentication failed error.

You've got the wrong protocol there, it's FTP and not SFTP Smile

that's what i tried first. Got this:
Response: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_8.4
Error: Cannot establish FTP connection to an SFTP server. Please select proper protocol.
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
Now i have absolutely no idea what to do. At least the server sent a response..

What client are you using? It should be set to connect via the standard, classic FTP protocol (which uses port 21), and not Secure FTP (which often uses port 22)

Oh, i completely forgot that ftp doesn't use port 22. It works now! Thank you so much for the help Smile :)

Would it be possible at some point to organize the FTP server into alphabetical folders for the two groups? The current unorganized setup is so large that it crashes most classic MacOS ftp clients when they try to list the directory.

It's a work in progress, and will also be the new layout for the new site.

I really do enjoy having a FTP to use on Windows.
The only issue I'm having is whenever I want to browse the apps folder, it will time out (suspecting Windows doesn't recognize I'm actually downloading content vs waiting for a server response)
How hard would it be to sort a couple of apps by Alphabetical order, like we do on the main site?
Just throwing it out there.

As it is right now, it's served as made available on the website, if it was done correctly many, many years ago it wouldn't look the way it does right now. Unfortunately sorting the FTP would break more than it's worth.

Therefore, everything from the current archive is being categorized and sorted into a brand new archive, which is taking a wee bit of time... though it's getting there.
