CIV 3 anyone?

I've managed to get a hold of Civ 3 for OS9 and OSX. Is it too early in abandonware terms to upload this?

Just confirm that it is the 2002 version from MacSoft (which I think it is), rather than the 2006 version from Aspyr called Civilization III Complete.

Even then it's a toughie. Aspyr's Civ III Complete is essentially a re-compile of the MacSoft version with the Play The World expansion added, and a few patches. So I would assume that Aspyr has the rights to the game now, even though Destineer (who bought MacSoft from Infrogrames in 2003) still host the v1.21g patch for the MacSoft version of the game. Aspyr have of course also release Civ IV and Civ V for Mac since.

It's a great game, so it would be good to see it, but that doesn't answer your question if it is abandonware or not.

Does it run on current hardware ? It may. Rise of Nations also by MacSoft (which I own and can't wait to get up here) from the same era still runs well on an Intel Mac Pro under Leopard, so that is not abandonware.

Anyone else with thoughts ?

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, it's the 2002 MacSoft version, it does run very well on my 2006 Intel MacBook and my iMac G3 Snow. I'd rather play it safe, than risk the MacGarden admin getting a nasty email from some lawyer representing such and such a company for hosting copyrighted material.
