Guides on emulating older applications

Turn your Mac into a PC, even with modest requirements because SoftPC only requires 2 MB of RAM! SoftPC will emulate an IBM/PC with 80286 processor.

Note: You already need a SoftPC hard disk created, Small SoftPC won't provide it. SoftPC 2.5 will create a bootable HD image.

DL #1: Archive contains the installer for SoftPC 1.3 ("Small" version) on two 800k floppy disks in DiskCopy 4.2 format, and a SoftPC 1.3 hard disk as a self-expanding archive (.sea) for your convenience, all compressed in friendly pre-5.x StuffIt format.

DL #2: An installation of SoftPC 2.5 on 1.4MB floppy disk image.

Architecture: 68k

System 6 or better, a Macintosh with 68000 or better processor, 2 MB of RAM, 10 MB of hard disk space.

68881 or 68882 for 80287 math co-processor emulation.

Font/DA Mover will be needed to install the SoftPC fonts under System 6.

Does anyone have the "Standard Version" install for 1.3? Intended for Macs with at least 4MB of RAM.

SoftPC 2.5 was infected with the nVIR A virus. I have removed it and uploaded a disinfected version.

@PB170: Thanks for that. Perhaps reukiodo (the uploader of the previous 2.5 copy) may need to check his archives, if he see's this update.

Please note! The previously uploaded version of SoftPC 2.5 was infected with the nVIR A virus. I have removed it and uploaded a disinfected version.

Bill Gates says 640KB is enough RAM for everybody.

Odd that SoftPC 1.3 would require a 68020 when I have Universal SoftPC 2.5 running on 68000 (Mac Classic) emulating MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.00a with Multimedia Extensions. The biggest hassle is that no XMS driver works inside SoftPC so you're limited to 640kB and real mode.
