When installing in OS9 it wanted the other two disk. I found that placing the VISE installers of disk 2 and 3 in the same directory as the disk 1 files allowed the install to complete. In my explanation below I was installing in 8.6.

The contents of "Retrospect_4.1A.sit (2.86 MB)" is not corrupted, you can mount it in OSX (I used 10.5, later OSes will fail to mount it, such as 10.11, possibly others). Get it to OSX, copy out the contents and then get it back to you Classic OS machine and run installers from each image one at a time. Each installer in each image runs independently and will not as for disk 2 of 3 and then 3 of three. They don't really need to be in a disk image. And actually I tested installing on a 2nd system and it seems it only needs the contents from disk image 1.

The CD image in the first download here works for me. I was perplexed for a moment because the downloaded file is truncated to ".toast_." due to character constraints. Toast will not open this file because it's still really a .sit file. After unstuffing with Stuffit 7, Toast mounts the resulting file without issue.

I realize this is not the same file mentioned below as being corrupt, as that image would not be the Express version.

In a discussion on MacOS9Lives.com, devils_advisor provided a link to an archive for Retrospect 4.1 with updaters to 4.3. The forum found that the archive of the installer CD image for 4.1A was corrupted and concluded that it was unusable. The archive is indeed corrupted, however I have managed to salvage the installer floppy disc images from it and have uploaded them here along with the updaters. I have also added additional updaters for version 4.3 that are on the Roxio archived updates web page via Wayback Machine. I have tested that the installers and updaters work OK on SSW 7.5 and Mac OS 9.2.2
