Nisus Compact is a streamlined word processor, designed with the Apple PowerBooks in mind but perfect for any Macintosh. This has the feel of Nisus Writer but without advanced features like drawing tools, macros and a glossary. Using only 365K disk space and 512K RAM, Compact can load completely into memory to keep PowerBooks and Macintosh Classics running smoothly.

This is version 3.47.

The dictionaries (...) of the German version also work on Nisus Writer 6.5

I had wondered about that. So this is good news. Locating other language versions of Compact is now required. Not an easy task but we may get lucky.

The dictionaries (including hyphenation dictionaries) of the German version also work on Nisus Writer 6.5. The dictionaries are version 3.4 which is the same version as the U.S. dictionaries included with Nisus Writer 6.5. This is important since Nisus has abandoned its Nisus Writer Dictionaries CD. Via a collection of the international versions of Nisus Compact it would be possible to restore the Nisus Writer dictionary collection.
