This app works with: SheepShaver, Basilisk II,

MovieWorks is a group of Macintosh software applications that work together to create multimedia stories, presentations, educational scenarios, and entertainment. Scenes created with these applications--individually named Composer, Sound, Paint, Video, and Player--are saved in Apple's QuickTime movie format. The program's features include high-resolution (up to 24-bit) color, 16-bit sound, and the ability to reduce file sizes by compressing scenes. It can also accommodate unlimited objects and scenes, as well as antialiased text. Cross-platform files created with MovieWorks Interactive can be distributed over the Internet.

Version 4.5 includes auto-sequencing of objects, drag-and-drop file support, batch transitions, iMac-colored timebars, frame grabbing, enhanced photo manipulation, an Eye Dropper tool for improved text color selection, MP3 and Macromedia Flash support, and more.

Version 4.6 adds a new online help, scene markers and auto-sequencing of objects to the markers, the ability to export as a streaming QuickTime movie, QDesign and Qualcomm sound compression, burnt text, default picture size, a timebar snap to end button, and many other enhancements.

DL #1: MovieWorks 3.0 Installer · 68k compatible · released 1996
DL #2: MovieWorks 4.5 Demo Installer · PPC compatible · released 1999
DL #3: MovieWorks 4.6 Demo Installer · PPC compatible · released 2000
DL #4: MovieWorks 5.1 Demo Installer · PPC Mac OS 8.0-9.22 · released 2001
DL #5: MovieWorks 4.0.3 Player · released 1998
DL #6: MovieWorks 3.0.1 Tutorial Installer · released 1996

A note about DL 2 and DL 3: They install as a 30-day "demo", but can be unlocked with a code (included in the downloads). After first launch the app complains about the Aladdin Transaction Engine being too old, but the app runs just fine after that.

Architecture: 68k PPC

About version 4.5 and 4.6: while the main app (MovieWorks) is PPC only, the sub apps (Animator, Video, Sound, Paint, Player) are 68k. However, you cannot install it on a 68k Mac, because the installer won't install anything. The main suite app is PPC-only and needed to register the demo.

Tested and works in Mac OS 9.2.2.

Phenomenal insight, MacNiels!

I wonder if it could be registered on a PPC Mac, then copy the registered files onto a 68k Mac. QEMU could be used for registration for folks who don't have a PPC Mac to register, and likewise Basilisk II could be used to test to see if the registered files remain registered. I assume that copying preferences may most likely be needed for this to hopefully work. I will try testing this possibility as well.

Some additional information about v4.5 and v4.6. I tried installing it on a Quadra 650 (68k). Even though the installer works, it won't install anything because the main suite app is PPC only.
You can install it on a PPC and drag everything over to the 68k (since the sub apps are 68k), and it works, but you will be unable to register the demo because you can't run the main app. So for a 68k it's pretty useless. I will update the compatibility section with this info.

Excellent uploads, McNiels, thanks a million! Laughing out loud

Added some packaging images, the 5.1 deluxe demo with a mag review and a complete tutorial installer for version 3.0.1 to complement the 3.0 installer. Also copied the tutorial's pdf to the manuals section for easier viewing and/or printing.
