May just be coincidence, AOL and AOLpress v1 and v2 were very big on Mac in 1997, 1998 and 1999. AOL was an awful web experience, but AOLpress was a (at the time) first rate web page creation tool.

Or could be more to do with a project development strategy shift by Microsoft, that saw most of the products also with Mac versions go down a path the Mac couldn't follow, after the disaster with Word v6.

Just out of interest - anyone knows why they cancelled Mac development? Windows dev continued for quite some time, they have several versions over "on the dark side". Was it the Adobe / Claris competition that made them reconsider?
