Painter 6

Painter 6.0, a raster-based digital art application was the final version release created by MetaCreations. Painter was then purchased by Corel Corporation, who released Painter version 6.1 in the form of an updater patch, containing brand-name changes plus several fixes (2nd DL above).

• DL #2:> the MetaCreations Painter v6.0 application installer only, plus the Corel Painter v6.1 patch update installer. (English)
   
• DL #3: is for the German language version of MetaCreations Painter 6.0, full install set, Mac and Windows, in the form of a zipped hybrid Mac/Windows CD-ROM image. Use MacZip to extract if using a classic Mac OS. The extracted .iso also mounts nicely on a classic system using the Virtual CD/DVD Utility, otherwise use Toast to mount or burn the image. If running Virtual PC on a classic Mac OS and mount this image with the Virtual CD/DVD Utility on the Mac, the PC partition will then mount as a CD-ROM in Windows under Virtual PC.

• DL #4: Update patch for Windows version of Corel Painter 6.1 (English).
  This patch will update any language version of MetaCreations Painter version 6.0, such as the German Windows version of Painter 6.0 above, to the English language version of Corel Painter 6.1
  Note: If you want to keep all of your menus and commands in the German language do not apply this patch.
   
• DL #5: Original Corel Painter 6 CD for Mac, ".iso" image in zipped archive.
   
• DL #6: Tour CD for Painter 6, zipped hybrid Mac/Windows CD .iso - The tour disk, as well as showcasing the abilities of Painter 6, has a Bryce 4 demo and QuickTime 4 install files.
   

  The Painter Tour provides you with a brief overview of the Corel Painter 6 software and some of its new features. It was designed to help you get started thinking about the creative possibilities of using Painter. To begin the Tour, double-click on "P6TOUR.EXE" on the PC, or on "Corel Painter 6 Tour" on the Macintosh.

  ...I love this new Painter 6 program except for the fact that I've had to reinstall again and again and then discovered there was a patch that I had to download to fix the numerous glitches. Note: Jacquelin's comment does seem to be fairly ominous. Fortunately, the 6.1 patch is available above too - 2nd DL above for Macintosh & 4th DL for Windows (English language).
