Guides on emulating older applications

DL #1 contains a Disk Copy 4.2 image of a Localiser 3.5 floppy disk from 1990. It is a system localiser. The system on the disk is 6.0.4 so you could boot from that if your setup is suitable. The localisation is for System 6 and 7. The disk may not be an original copy.

DL #2 contains v. 3.6 of the Localizer Installer

DL #3 contains the International Control Panel for System 6.0.4

It is likely that you will not need to use downloads 2 or 3 instead of their counterparts on the disk image, but they are here just in case.

The steps in the localisation procedure are the following:

1) Boot your Mac from a system other than the system you want the resources installed in. This could be a floppy disk made from the Localizer disk image here, if convenient.

2) Ensure that either the Localizer disk or the Localizer disk image is mounted.

3) Double-click on your country file (e.g. Australia) on the mounted Localizer disk (image) and install it in the target system

4) Restart your Mac from the target system

5) Drag the International resource into the System folder. In System 7 you will be asked if you wish to put it in the Control Panels folder; click "yes".

6) Open Control Panels, double-click on International and select your country.

7) Restart your Mac.

It would be good to get the original, mrdav Wink

Tho' the System 7.0 CP is very backwards-compatible in my SSW 6.0.8 system in Mini vMacII

And booting from your 6.0.4 disk on the Mini to install the localized file[s] is no problem, either.

I have just noticed that the International Control Panel in this disk is for System 7, so I think must have replaced the System 6 version on the disk with the System 7 version at some stage (I had no thoughts of preservation in those days) and I no longer have the original disk. So I am going to upload a System 6.0.4 version of the Control Panel as well, as a separate item in case it is needed.

Thanks for this one, mrdav. It's especially useful for my SSW 6 setup on Mini vMac II (which it boots up and installs to my SSW 6 setup disk, beautifully).

Now my date and time looks "normal" at last. Smile Thanks !
