Yep, I'm sorry, I don't know exactly why. Sad What I can say is that MacPaint is working from system 1 to system 7.6, so it's certainly not fully compatible with Mac OS 9.

That still does not explain why there are rectangles on top of the menu bar in macpaint in my ibook but not on the SE.

Congrats! Just pay attention that files decompressed into Mac OS X should be altered with Mac OS Classic. So, I recommend to use StuffIt 5.5 to decompress compatibles files (.sit, .bin, .hqx, etc) directly under Mac OS 9 before transferring them to the SE. Or, better, transferring compressed files into the SE & decompress them here with StuffIt.

Ok, I fixed it. When I click install it just asks for me to insert a disk. But if I burn it to cd it does not ask me to insert a cd. So I had the hard drive partitioned in 2. One half has 10.3. And the other half has 9.2.2 and 10.2.4. I installed 10.2.4 first and then the 9.2.2. Everything installed fine. Except looks like the cds are not mixed as per the other comment. It is properly labeled now. 1 is 1, 2 is 2, and 3 is 3.

The only problem is apps are not running as should be. I still have my sisters old SE FDHD from college 1989. I downloaded Macpaint from here all of them. 1 and 2 give memory error. But 1.3 1.4 and 1.5 have black rectangle dots all over the top of the menu bar in Macpaint. And Transylvania is blank and does not work. Don't remember last time how I got it to work. Even on the SE its blank. I sign the register and next of kin. And the window to the left is blank. And I had one of the other ones I downloaded here work. But the left window is white graphics. No black. And no go on the SE. And Macpaint works on the SE, no black rectangles on the menu bar. Looks like it did when I was a kid. But same exact download just copied works on the ibook g3 900. Except the black rectangles. Weird on the SE it works. If it was a bad download it would not work even on the SE. Same bad download copied to the SE would not work. But it does work. So must be the ibook.

And BTW I am using a cheap usb floppy to copy to the SE. It works on MAC and Windows 10. Except mac disks on MAC and Windows on Windows. Cross platform is too complicated, resourse fork and all. But it works to copy from ibook to SE.

If u really wanna use theses images, remember that it should erase your drive. Also, u need to boot from the first disk. I think the best thing to do is installing Mac OS 9 on another partition of the drive. Of course, u need to use Apple Disk Utility if u wanna do it. Like that u can choose to boot from the system (9.2.2 or Mac OS X 10.3) u want.

Yes thanks I did that. Works great. But the os is in a small window and not full screen. Because you need the original cds the ibook came with I have been told. So I need to figure out how to get these images working.

You can try on this page if u wanna install the system 9.2.2 only. Or u can also just copying a preinstalled folder with it on your iBook. There is a lot of other options, like installing Mac OS 9.1 or 9.2.1 & update to 9.2.2, but the first one I've mentioned should be ok.

Hi,

The disk requested is certainly the second one "691-4308-A,,iBook. Software Restore 2 of 3. Mac OS v9.2.2. Disc v1.3_2003 (CD)" I presume. Be careful, because it restore also Mac OS X 10.2.4 with the Classic system. So, may be it's best to install Classic separately...

Cannot get this to work. I extract the 691-4305. I install it. The another program opens up and asks me to insert another disk. Which disk? I have ibook g3 900 early 2003 from ebay. I already installed 10.3. Trying to get os 9 on it. Cannot install. Just asks me to insert cd.

the following disks are labeled wrong. disk 2 is really 3. and disk 3 is really 2. this had me confused as to why my ibook kept rejecting the 2nd disk tell i noticed the numbers did not match with the labels and the pics of the disks.

691-4308-A,,iBook. Software Restore 2 of 3. Mac OS v9.2.2. Disc v1.3_2003 (CD)
691-4356-A,,iBook. Software Restore 3 of 3. Mac OS v9.2.2. Disc v1.3_2003 (CD)

otherwise its working great on my ibook g3/900mhz. thank you much
