A BBS server from the days of yore, written entirely in HyperCard.
HyperBBS should work with any Hayes-compatible modem. It's been tried with a Hayes 1200 and an Apple Personal.
MD5 checksum & filename: a2220b0667e869a16f71ac6f613066f7 *HyperBBS-1.sit
CompatibilityRequires:
HyperCard 1.2.5 - has errors if using HyperCard 2.x
Mac Plus or newer
Any Hayes-compatible modem, 300 baud or faster.
HyperBBS Issues (from Sysop Help Stack):
• You can't see the message you're replying to as you write the reply.
• There's no chat mode to talk to callers.
• It supports MacBinary I but not II.
• It doesn't support Kermit, YModem, or any other non-XModem protocols.
• There's no way for the user to change his password or other UserList information.
• There's no facility for the user to edit messages once they've been entered.
• Messages can only be listed in full; would be nice to list just subjects.
Comments
This will be interesting to look at for modem interfacing, as I'm trying to make an application for wardialing and HyperCard seems to be the ticket to doing so.
