For System 7.0 - 7.6 - Mac OS 9
Emulation
This app works with: SheepShaver, Basilisk II,

From Mark of the Unicorn's website:

Freestyle is the first trackless sequencer with instant music notation. Powerful, yet easy to use, FreeStyle gives you the freedom to concentrate on what is most important to you—your music.

Create compositions intuitively using ensembles, players, takes and arrangements. Get inspired with FreeStyle's dozens of drum riffs. Notate your performances as you play. See your music on screen exactly as it will print. Get started quickly with built-in support for dozens of popular MIDI instruments, including any General MIDI device. FreeStyle provides both tape recorder and drum machine style composing.

This is a hybrid disc image, so it will work on both Macs and computers with Windows, but as mentioned in the requirements, it will not run on Windows 3.1 or Windows XP.

This does work in SheepShaver, but it runs at half speed. Works on Basilisk II with the same speed issues, but it installs FreeStyle 2.11, which must be the last version of it to work on 68k Macs (Tested with Mac OS 7.6.1). This program is surely more suitable for actual Macs opposed to emulators.

Notes: USB MIDI Interface compatibility requires Mac OS 8.6 or higher.

Personal Notes: This program has been incredibly hard to find, it took me 6+ years before I finally acquired the full CD version which is preserved here now. Having said that, as far as I am aware of, this program is no longer sold by Mark of the Unicorn (MOTU), or their third party distributors. In fact, aside from MOTU keeping what I think is a legacy product page, there is very little information on the internet about this program at all. If someone should find out FreeStyle is in fact supported (which considering the age of the program, seems unlikely), remove the file, and this can perhaps become the definitive page of information based on this program. --meleemario
