CompatibilityNOTE: This copy of Fontographer has been pre-installed and is incomplete. It will run on actual PPC Macintosh hardware, only. It crashes SheepShaver when you attempt to open any font. Will not run at all on 68k hardware or emulation.
For a full install of Fontographer to either 68k & PPC Mac & and works on all emulators, use the version 4.1.4 install set, instead. Or, v4.1.5 from the FreeHand Graphics Studio install set (this contains a full install of Fontographer 4.1.5 for 68k & PPC Macintosh).

SSW 6.0.8 was released with only printer fixes to enable users of SSW 6 to share networked printers with users of the new Macintosh OS, SSW 7.0. Release notes can be found here in doc "SSW_6.0.8_Info.txt". This link also includes System 6.x installers, versions 6.0.3 to 6.0.8, plus TrueType fonts and utilities for installing and enabling TrueType fonts in SSW 6.0.7 and 6.0.8.
Excerpt from the "SSW_6.0.8_Info.txt" doc:
Yes, there was a TrueType extension that allowed System 6.0.5 - 6.0.8 to use TrueType fonts. Apple actually released it about the same time as Mac OS 7 in order to provide some additional compatibility for System 6 users. Also, if I recall correctly, System 6.0.8 was released only a few months prior to the release of Mac OS 7.
I believe there was a TrueType extension for late versions of System 6 as well! I'm sure I used truetype fonts with System 6 (via Suitcase/ATM?).
Fontographer has been able to generate Bitmap, PostScript Type 1 and Type 3, and TrueType fonts going back to v4.0, which was released in 1993 and could run on a Macintosh Plus running System 6. I wouldn't be surprised if older versions could generate TrueType fonts as well since TrueType came out with Mac OS 7 in 1991.
Edit: Changed 'xxx 7' to 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User
Thanks, I always wanted this one. This version may be able to export to TrueType, too.
