Guides on emulating older applications

Welcome to Final Cut Pro, the all-in-one solution for professional digital video editing and compositing. Final Cut Pro is designed to work with professional broadcast equipment in post-production environments, enabling you to produce broadcast-quality productions in a flexible environment.

Final Cut Pro 3 introduces G4 real-time effects, the software-based, real-time playback of dissolves, wipes, and other effects when using either the DV or the new OfflineRT video format. No additional hardware is necessary other than a qualified Power Mac or PowerBook computer. This eliminates the need to render these effects as you apply and adjust them. These effects play along with the rest of your program right on your computer screen.

1st DL is the installation software with both Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X installers (QuickTime 5.0.4, English and Intl English Mac OS 9.2.2 updates also included)
MD5 Checksum and filename: 18BE3E66445BF3F1E45451938A978FCF *Final Cut Pro 3.0 full Install.sit

2nd DL is the FCP 3.0.2 (English) update
MD5 Checksum and filename: D0B93EA878212C4438458EC3273918EE *FCP302RTL.smi.bin

3rd DL is a full anthology of all the Final Cut Pro 3.x line of updates from my old archives. These are the original downloads from Apple back in the day. Update 3.0.4 is for OS X.

A serial is included with the first file.

Important: In order to successfully install the 3.0.2 update you need the "original" CD mounted on the desktop. The updater makes this verification. It's not enough to have the image mounted, you need the image burned on physical media.

Architecture: PPC PPC (Carbonized)

Note: G4 Real-Time editing requires a single or dual-processor Power Macintosh G4 500 MHz or faster (PowerBook G4 667 MHz or faster recommended for real-time mobile DV editing).

I see! I'll try that someday when I'll need this software again.

I also have the same error alert when launching the app for the first time after having installed it, it says "Final Cut Pro requires a System ID file which is either missing or invalid. Please reinstall using the original CD that was used to install Final Cut Pro." But the Final Cut Pro 3.0.img was always mounted. (Over a MDD 2003)

In Mac OS 9.2.2 instead, when application launched the first time it asked for serial number, then shows the FCP splash screen and crashes, mac error 1.

Before that, I had the 3.5 version installed but when opening the app it simply quits as soon as launched

i've did it th way you said but I still got the message about System ID file. I tried using the mac image mounter, and Toast, but still can't get the software to get past that System ID error.

I have successfully installed this on both Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.4.11. The trick is that you need to keep the install disc image mounted until after you have entered the serial number and registered the software. Once the software is registered you no longer need to have the disc image mounted.

BTW: I did not get any message about a System ID file if the disc image was not mounted during the install/registration process...I only got a message to insert the original CD.

Please elaborate. It sounds like you copied a preinstalled version instead of using the installer. The FCP3 CD has a hidden partition that is checked during install, and i don't remember if at first run too (was doing some tests three weeks ago but i don't remember haha). A copied preinstalled version won't work, install from scratch.

Hi! I've download the .sit archive and installed the app, but when I launch it, it shows an error which says "Final Cut Pro requires a System ID file which is either missing or invalid.
Please reinstall using the original CD that was used to install Final Cut Pro.
Can someone upload the file in question or explain how to bypass this check?
EDIT: also I'm under Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 on a iBook G4 with 1.5gb of ram.
