In the screenshots folder, I can't find another "picture_3" (or "picture_31",...) file that matches to this entry.
The small image in Edit Mode has displayed the correct picture, so I was able to look for the large picture, by adding some _x numbers to the file name displayed in the address line of the browser.

even I do it with StuffIt Deluxe3.5 on os9.

Usually, this should be fine. So I don't know what messes up the file.

Me, I do it within Bas, Sheep or Mini vMac, put the stuff onto a Disk Copy image, save it preferably as Disk Copy 4.2 (using 6.3 ) , then I stuff it inside the emulator, if possible.

Would prevent the .DS_Store stuff.
