Fixes DMGs for Mac OS 9 and DiskCopy 6.4 upwards that have been downloaded from the web. Please note that DiskCopy 6.4+ can mount only a certain limited kind of DMGs.
DMG Mechanic prepares also other disk images for DiskCopy, for instance, ISOs: Often you can mount ISOs downloaded from the web with Toast but not with DiskCopy. Oftentimes you cannot lock them. However, if you run the ISO with DMG Mechanic the ISO image will be mountable with DiskCopy, and you can lock them.
I have also used DMG Mechanic to 'fix' .img files. For some reason that works.
Tested with Mac OS 8.6, 9.0, and 9.2.2. Seems to require CarbonLib. Tested on SheepShaver.

Thanks 24bit, I have amended above description according to your tests.
Thanks, rebuilding the desktop file did it. DMG Mechanic seems to be quite useful for mounting all sorts of images that lost their icons. The app seems to need carbon.lib and runs with 8.6 and 9.0 with SheepShaver.
Same way as on real hardware (pressing Option/Apple keys simultaneously - modern keyboards: alt+cmd).
I don't know. I have tested DMG Mechanic on Mac OS 9.2.2 native only (where I use it regulary with no problems, never, however, on emulation, not even in the Classic environment. If I recall it correctly I had to rebuild the desktop before the drag and drop worked - but I am not sure (it has been awhile). Is it possible to rebuild the desktop on Sheepshaver? Also, I do not know whether the app works on Mac OS 8.6.
Interesting utility xy. I am on Mandriva > Shepshaver > OS8.6 mostly, and the apps just do nothing, if I try to drop something on them. Am I missing some kind of engine or such?
