Handy little zip here has 4 versions of CHUD Remover that runs on all versions of OSX for PowerPC as well as x86 Tiger and Leopard. CHUD is an Apple Developer tool-kit (CHUD is Computer Hardware Understanding Development) that when installed causes a little background load on the computer system slowing performance. CHUD can quickly be removed when you're not using it, later quickly reinstalled when you want it.

The four CHUD Remover versions are separated by half, v1 and v2 run in Jaguar and Panther, whereas v4.5 and v4.6 run in Tiger and Leopard. This particular v1 is from CHUD 3.0.1 not CHUD 3.0.0 which had bugs in its Remover.

I attest Remover v2 fails to cleanup after CHUD v3.0.0/3.0.1 in Jaguar/Smeagol so this requires Remover v1 to not leave performance slowed. It ought to be trusted that v4.5 won't be needed, that v4.6 cleansup everything CHUD-related in all Leopard and Tiger configurations.

CHUD is a creepy sounding word meant to be confused with 'crud' and 'chum' what with CHUD's Shark motif (see shark in screenshot 2), deserving of a Remover modeled on a bottle of Industrial Strength cleaner (the icon/first screenshot).

When these relevant versions of CHUD have been installed, the Terminal recognizes the cmd "hwprefs". You guessed it, conversely when CHUD is absent or removed, hwprefs in Terminal is an unrecognized command. Also look in System Preferences for CHUD-fueled goodies.

note: none of these versions of CHUD Remover inform if or when CHUD doesn't exist. This program reports successful removal whether CHUD had been there or not.
