Carbon Copy For The Mac, also known as Carbon Copy Mac (also written variously as CarbonCopy Mac, CarbonCopyMac, Carbon Copy/Mac, etc.), is a remote desktop client for early Macintosh computers, similar to Timbuktu and Timbuktu Remote. Carbon Copy Mac is the Macintosh release in Microcom's Carbon Copy series, which also includes various editions for DOS and Windows on PC. (It is unrelated to the similarly named Carbon Copy Cloner.)

Due to Microcom's licensing requirements, unless you are using the "Unlimited Users Per Single AppleTalk Network Zone" edition of Carbon Copy Mac (not present here at this time), a unique serial number is required for each computer wishing to connect. Given that the serial number is embedded within the program itself, this means that at least two unique copies are required in order to use Carbon Copy. Carbon Copy Mac can be used over an AppleTalk/LocalTalk network, or via modem.

Two unique copies of the "Single-User AppleTalk and Serial (Remote)" edition are available from this page (listed by serial number, followed by version number):

DL#1: Serial #: 10105251 (v2.0.3) — imaged from untouched media
DL#2: Serial #: 10101876 (v2.0.1) — imaged from used media

The differences between versions 2.0.3 and 2.0.1 are minor. Changes with v2.0.3 are detailed in the included Read Me file with that copy. (It's unclear if there was a v2.0.2 or not, so the listed changes may be incomplete.)

Installation includes the Carbon Copy desk accessory (available from the Apple Menu), as well as the Carbon Copy extension (or INIT). Also included is a "detect-only" copy of Virex (either v3.51cc or v3.1.1cc, respectively), which is automatically placed in the System Folder upon installation. It cannot remove viruses, but it can detect them, as well as prevent infection from occurring.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k

Carbon Copy Mac v2.0.x adds compatibility with Apple's System 7, but is also backwards compatible with the earlier Carbon Copy Mac v1.0.
