Boxer |
Boxer is a DOS emulator based on DOSBox v0.74.
1st download: DMG disk image with Boxer Beta v0.88.
2nd download: Boxer v1.33.
To install, copy Boxer to your Applications folder or elsewhere on your disk drive.
When opened for the first time, Boxer will ask you where you would like the DOS folder on your computer to be located. EXE files of games or other programs can be dropped directly onto Boxer, which will attempt to copy the EXE (or run its installer) to a wrapper file, which will then be placed in your chosen DOS folder when finished. From there, the game or program can be opened automatically in Boxer by double-clicking the wrapper file.
CompatibilityBoxer Beta v0.88 is a universal binary, and will run in Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger and Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard. It is the last version of Boxer to run in Mac OS X Tiger.
Boxer 1.3.3 was the last version of Boxer to run on PPC. It requires Mac OS X 10.5 to run.
The latest version of Boxer is v1.4.0 and was released in 2016; it is available from the Boxer website, and can be used with Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and later (Intel only).
Comments
I originally called it a front-end for DOSBox but the wording was getting away from me, so I simplified it.
This is a wrapper application for DOSBox, which is included within the Application package.
