For System 1 - 5 - System 7.0 - 7.6
This app works with: Mini vMac

Your Apple Tour of the Macintosh Plus version 2.0 released in 1988. This is a Disk Copy 4.2 image file of the original Mac Plus Tour floppy disk. StuffIt 3.5 was used for compression before uploading.

Architecture: 68k

This disk is bootable on a Mac Plus, it will also boot Mini vMac, however this is not advised as the mouse cursor fails to show if booted in Mini vMac (I needed to crash the tour). It runs fine on Mini vMac if you start up from your regular OS drive and mount the Tour disk as a secondary drive.

Problem solved! I obtained a genuine copy of the disk "Your Tour of The Macintosh Plus" and it works perfectly. It must lose a resource fork or hidden file when files are copied FROM the disk and then back onto another disk, however when I use "Disk Copy" it must copy the disk in its entirety (including hidden files) because it boots up fine. Thanks for your help.

@dodofleet: Congrats and lucky you to have this Mac (and Floppy Emu).

I also recall this disk working and now would like to be able to test it for problems myself, but unfortunately no longer possess an actual Mac Plus to do so.

It does boot up to the Mac Plus ROM on Mini vMac, but it takes mouse control away from the emulator (and is unusable). The only way that I've found to run the tour without problems under emulation is by booting up independent of the System that's on the tour disk and then running the tour.

Have you tried writing the image file to another DD disk?

Thanks MikeTomTom. It runs fine if I open it manually, but I seem to remember this tour starting up from the disk itself Puzzled vMac spits it out after the happy mac face too. And as for option 1, unfortunately there's literally no more room on the 800k disk to put system 6.0.8. Yep, it's my family's original Mac, and I purchased a Floppy Emu (best invention ever) to transfer files to it Big smile

@dodofleet: You have an actual Mac Plus and the Tour doesn't run? Not sure, but I would try:

1). Move all files from the Tour floppy (except for the System Folder) into a boot floppy that you know works, and then try the tour. Preferably a boot floppy with SSW 6.0.8 or earlier for better floppy disk space.

2). If you have an external drive that you can boot up from, start the Plus up from that, insert the Tour floppy and then run it, without needing to boot up to the System on the Tour floppy.

Thanks for the upload. Is there any trick to getting this running? The system folder only contains the system file and my Plus loads it to the happy Mac face then spits the disk out.

I recall this from the first Mac I ever could put my hands on. Really lovely tour, especially if you think about how the mainstream computers were operated in 1988.
