Guides on emulating older applications

This is the first alpha "seed release" of Apple Dylan for developers.

The release dates back to when Dylan was targeting the viability of running on 68k processors as a proxy for low power ARM devices, such as the early Newton.

Unfortunately, this alpha arrived long after the original Newton MessagePad shipped, and still could not run apps of significant complexity without a severe performance penalty. As one of the tradeoffs, this build doesn't support floating point numbers, requiring developers to drop into writing C to handle common computations like sine waves.

Several of the other Dylan implementations from back then are mentioned in the Dylan FAQ, found within this download's documentation folder. Much care was taken in addressing customer concerns, sharing sample code, and openly sharing design notes over time in this package.

More information can be found in the Apple Dylan TR1 page.
