The Apple Club CD is designed to provide an efficient tool for updating, maintaining, and getting the most from your Mac. The CD will boot (System Software 7.6.1) most Macintosh systems at the time, from Mac IIci and newer. (From the product description)

The second download is Apple Club CD 1.0. This was the first CD for those in the Apple club to give you the easy updates for your Mac or Apple //. This file is a Toast 5 (Mac OS 9) image and it was compressed using Mac OS 10.4. NOTE: You may have trouble burning this file on Modern Macs.

"This CD has a universal System Software 7.5.5-based System Folder that will startup most Macintosh systems (Macintosh IIci or newer, except the PowerBook 1400 Series) with an internal or external Apple CD-ROM drive. This System Folder has been especially prepared to work on this CD only; please do not copy it to your hard drive for use on your Macintosh."

...Vol 2 is corrupted.

It burns OK for me, using Toast 5.x on OS 9.
The .sit archive as DL'd from here, has an MD5 checksum: e96c01db6090b267d6447874606232a4 if you could check against what you DL'd for any differences and rule out corruption in your DL.

The only things I noticed that were not quite right about this DL; (1) The file "Apple_Club_CD_2.0.smi" was not a ".smi" (Disk Copy "Self Mounting Image"), it was a Disk Copy 6 compressed "Read Only" image. (2) It had been "touched" by the Finder in 2002 as an unlocked mounted image. Curiously, one of the folders (icons forming the Apple Club logo) had also been touched by the Finder, in 2002(i). No other obvious disturbances were visible to me, tho' the Finder's hidden files, Desktop DB, DF, etc, were likely also touched at this time. (3) Notably, there is 266.4MB of free space occupying the mounted image, but empty space is not untypical of compilation CD's from Apple. Other than that it burns OK here.

Also with compressed Disk Copy 6 images, if I'm burning this image file type, generally I lock & then mount the image using Disk Copy. I next create an ISO image of the mounted disk using the Virtual CD/DVD Utility (from here at the MG). I then lock & drop the fresh ISO image onto Toast to burn. I tend to get good results this way. If you don't care to use the Utility method, you could likely do similar with Toast i.e,; 1st create a Toast ISO from the Disk Copy image then burn the resulting Toast cdr/iso image.

If you still are unable to burn a CD for this, I can upload a recreated ISO image that works OK for me on OS 9 or 10.4.x - If you'd wish to try that.

(i) This 2002 touched Folder is the right-most underlined stroke (icon) beneath the word "Apple Club" - it contains the System Folder and associated files that you'd expect to see in a bootable ROM (System 7.6.1)! Likely this image was tested (unlocked) in 2002, to see if it would boot, using Basilisk II or SheepShaver as the test Mac, causing the booting Finder to write to & date/time stamp the mounted image.

-->that Vol 2 is corrupted<--

Hmm, well I have just used the disc image to burn, verify and mount a CD using Toast 7 in Mac OS X 10.6.8 without a problem. So the disc image is fine. Are you sure your CD burner is working properly? As they get older, they are sometimes unable to burn CDs properly without error.

Thank you for uploading vol 1

I just wanted to confirm that Vol 2 is corrupted. I try to get mac OS to burn it, and when it gets half way though verify the drive stops and tells me the data will not verify. I think the the part of the image where the data is fine, it's the rest of the image that's corrupted. NOTE: This was OS 9 and Mac OS 10.4.11. I even try to reconvert the image in Mac OS 10.4.11, same end result. Anyone willing to re-upload Vol 2 that work for them?

Hi locutus. If you have Toast, the simplest solution would be to unstuff the image and drag the smi into Toast and burn a CD from Toast. This works with Toast 7. I don't have later versions to test. Alternatively, you can open up Disk Utility in OS X and select Image -> Burn and navigate to the smi and make a CD that way. There is no need to mount the image. I can't suggest why you are having verify/mount problems

You say that you have Apple Club CD 1.0. A disc image of that would be a good addition here.

How anyone been able to write this image to a disc? I mount the image in OS 9 and all, but I would like to burn the image to a CD. Every time I burn the CD it fails on verify or if it makes it though verify, it fails to mount. I just want to have in on CD to pair it when my Club CD 1.0 I have.
