Anarcho is a decent little text editor for 68k Macs. It was created as a simple and free alternative to larger word processors that were available at the time, hence the name. According to the Read Me included with v1.6, Anarcho was tested on a 6100, a Quadra 800, a Macintosh IIfx, an LC II, a Macintosh SE and Macintosh Plus, and a Macintosh II. It works on PPC Macs as well.
With Anarcho, it is possible to quickly move between text documents within a directory if others are present with the one that has been initially opened. All such documents can be accessed by Opt-Clicking the title bar of the currently open document.
Also included is an autotyper (called "-> Anarcho") for converting the creator type of text documents to Anarcho ("ntxt").
Version 1.6 reportedly fixed issues with operation on Macs with a 68040 processor.
The author credits themself as "proclus" within the application, only listing their name in the Read Me.
CompatibilityRequires only 150KB of RAM and 35K of disk space.
Comments
Not a bad text editor, but extremely limited.
