Today is a good day. I have uploaded all of the part files for the DVD image & the 2 first CD. Yesterday, only 6 files & now, 18 on the page!!! As you can see & for the moment, you will have to rebuild only the DVD image (no more taff finally ). Yes, my bandwidth has been accelerated since the morning (but not actually, too slow...). So, the last file pass, but just in time. Just tell me if you need MD5 checksum. I will try tomorrow for the last file(s)...
Well, I have a request. Perhaps, you have the same idea in mind, but I wonder if I can create a new page. A "definitive" page for the public where you can upload all the definitives files. But, if so, I will complete it soon. I am thinking about next monday because it's a special day for me. The actual page looks good, but there is too much changes now on it.
In the meantime, there is a request for the next version (Leopard Server) now. Even we can found & upload this one, we are just in time or we'll have to wait the end of 2017/beginning of 2018 to add (10 years since the release date, 2007) ? I think mrdav know that or may be you. But, if I can find it, I will tell you.
Yes, that's what I was thinking about. But, finally, you're right before, my Internet connection is bad at some moments. I have only to wait for the best. May be on the night... If I get a chance, I will arrive to finish this task very soon. On the night, the connection looks more reliable & faster. So, now, may the force be with us...
The last tentative has failed at the end. But, it seems that's not the connection which is more stable for now. Otherwise, yes, I think a lot of files is not desired if it slowing the page, but they are not destined to stay in place, they must be removed & replaced with the definitive file. I have launched a newer attempt with the first 150 MB file, may be this one will be ok. Of course, I hope so.
There is disturbances during the journey with the uploads. No one can access or seeing this page, except u & me, I suppose... So, the problems could only comes from my "bad" connection. I'm in the upload part of the first big file (at least, the 10th tentative), & for the moment, it's good. But, if it fails, I will try with 30 MB files size max only. In that case, it must be working better. But, 80 files will be added on the page, however...
Perfect. Thanks. Any help would be much appreciated, especially from u. Of course, I will begin tomorrow as planned. If I can choose between two connections, I will take the fastest for uploads.
Yes, please let me know. I may be able to help with this endeavor.
Well. It's "Mac OS X Server 10.4" & I have not actually the possibility of testing it. I hope u will enjoy it if it's ok. I'm not sure that it will be easy for me to upload it. There is always some troubles with my connection. I hope however all will be allright on saturday...
Thanks. I haven't seen your message before due to the big power failure of the MG website.
Well. All very intriguing
I will be interested to see what this is all about.
You will see that soon. May be "semvalidade2006" will help me with bandwidth. I hope he will do. But I'm afraid the task will take a long time before he could uploading all the definitives files. And when all will be finished, may be it can gives u additional work. If u want to know what is it, just let me know before saturday. I have not tested it yet also, because it's not actually possible for me, but I wonder if u would test yourself. Well, now, I'm gonna keep quiet, so...
Well, I have finished the preparation of the files. Finally, I have used BetterZip, instead of Split & Concat for that first task. Then, Split & Concat is good for join all the files in only one. And when I decompress the zip file obtained, it works. I have compared it with the original, they look identicals. I have used MD5 for that & I have also all the checksums now. That looks good I think. All the parts are 150 MB larger size max. I hope that will pass with my connection bandwidth. I'm gonna look for someone to help me now...
Thanks for your precious advices. I will look further to get the best result. I'm going to test some of these tools & make my choice, then. May be I will ask someone to help me (an admin of this site by the way). But, meanwhile, I need to test my capricious connection with this site, I think...
Thanks for your straightforward answer.
How large is the file and in what form? e.g.; .zip, .rar, .sit, etc.;? I have noticed that your IP is dynamic, in that it changes often, even during the time you are logged in. This can cause large uploads to fail and may be a problem for you.
There are 5 files overall, but the first one is larger than 2 GiB. All of them are already zipped, but the contents are in .dmg format because there are files system inside & can be booted. Yeah, my IP is not static anymore, due to the lost of my last system connection for some problems. I think this is the real source of my problem, but may be there is a short disconnection in the Internet network occasionally.
You would perhaps have more chance of success if you were to use a file splitter to split an archive into smaller part files and save the upload page at the completion of each part. This way if the upload fails at some point, it would not be so troublesome to retry uploading a smaller portion of the archive. Anyway, I can help with suggestions as to file sizes and splitting if needed.
I was thinking about that. I know that mrdav use one of them & now Scott, but I'm not sure it is recommanded for some system disks. Also, I don't think uploading them splitted directly on the site & let them like that will be the suitable solution, except if someone can DL them, rebuild the files in one piece & upload them again into the page.
This is how we often make uploads of very large items here. Also by adding an temporary H2 notice at the top of the page description, informing all that uploads are on-going - don't touch the page. This is to let us know not to interfere with that page until all uploads are complete. As you can imagine (or perhaps already know) how annoying it can be to upload several hundred MG's and then being informed by the site that in the meantime someone else has edited your page, causing your upload to fail
That's what I used this to upload the desktop pictures from Snow Leopard through Mountain Lion. However, I encounter a fail with the first attempt with the biggest of them. The second tentative finished good fortunately for me. Besides, to avoid that someone interfere when creating the page, I have attempted to upload the file first before the page was created. But perhaps that's not the way to make it.
Thanks for release my account. And my apologies for the inconveniences caused by me. I just tried to add a too big archive than my bandwidth can support. It's something missing here. I wanted to offer this quite rare gift just for acknowledge the wonderful job you are doing here in your free time, you & your comrades. Perhaps you have another solution for uploading the archive, without compromise the bandwidth here. May be another special website ? Just let me know, then.

You always have the option in the updater drop down menu to "download only".
That's how I archived the Tiger and Leopard updates.
The 10.6.8 combo update is still online.
I might be getting ANOTHER G4 iMac shortly, [...] Let me know if you are still interested...
Not a problem. The new iMac has MacOS 9.2.2 only, and installed a 400GB HDD as two 185GB partitions
You're a site-admin, aren't you? What shall I do about Studio/32? It is made by EA. Slomacuser wants it up on the site. I don't mind putting up, I'm just not sure how wise it is (or if it is even allowed).
What do you think?
p.s. On the Mac Format front, my MDD is set up, I have Acrobat 9 and I have issues 16 to 21 scanned in. I just have to get started...
I might be getting ANOTHER G4 iMac shortly, and it looks in pretty good nick (ie. an idiot like me has NOT drilled the screws on the base). If it is perfect, I'll swap the HDD/SUPERDRIVE and send it up to NSW (after finding a workable packing method). Let me know if you are still interested...
A bit on the ultra-sensitive side, but I get it due to the site's nature. The excuse that things should be kept private should be seen as ironic to anyone, however.
Thanks for the heads-up on the new alternate MacWrite Pro 1.5 download, MikeTomTom. Installed it as soon as I got home. Worked perfectly with Mini vMac 3.3.3, SSW 6.0.8 -- excellent!
Thanks for uploading the second DL for the Adventure! DA I requested, MikeTomTom. Archive unwound using Stuffit Expander 4.01 and DA installed and running, no probs. Thanks for the quick response, too. Checked back a couple of days after my original post and there it was! Much appreciated.
