Thank you very much, for uploading Titanium PowerBook restore set. If only my TiBook did not go kaput!
Got an item I've never seen before that came with a batch of Aluminum G4s I bought.
It's an OS 9 Classic Installer DVD (yes DVD). Version 1.0 dated 2005 (last revised Dec 2004).
Not sure what's on it as all you can see is the installer alias.
I think it may have been part of the 10.3.7 factory install set???
If I get a chance I'll try running it in 10.4.11 and see what happens.
Was there a cease and desist from Zane Publishing (Zane Home Library)?
If I search "EA Games" I get hits, but if I search "Zane" I get nothing.
Not only no Zane titles, but no mention on the entire site.
And I know I personally uploaded one Asimov/Zane title myself...
Just wondering before I go uploading any titles.
What's the concensus on OSX?
Abandonware through Tiger?
As long as its PPC only?
Not for MacGarden?
I have everything in CD versions (including the by-request-only Tiger 4CD set).
I also the SDK CDs and the CD (no iDVD) and DVD versions of iLife '04 and '05.
Thanks for the heads-up on Defenders Japanese Mac and software giveaway.
Re: My CDs
So do you think the fact that my old personal dmgs produce bootable disks while the newer ones don't has something to do with the fact the newer ones were done on either internal sata DVRs or external USB-sata dvrs (20" Intel iMac) wherein the past I had always used external firewire-ide dvrs or usb-ide dvrs? The firewire chip on new iMacs was so unreliable I migrated to USB-IDE and then to USB-SATA as the IDE dvrs became harder to find.
I have been using the same emac922 and 10.4.6 dmgs for year and have never had a problem.
So for example:
10.0.3 to .dmg (Intel iMac running snow leopard sata dvr) - OSX zipped - did not produce a bootable G3 Wallstreet disk when downloaded, unzipped and written to CD on my Macbook Pro.
10.0.3 to .toast (Quicksilver 9.2.2, Toast 5, DropStuffed ) did produce a bootable Wallstreet disk when downloaded, unstuffed and written to CD (Toast 10) on my Macbook Pro.
All I can come up with is that Disk Utility writes something different in the boot block or some header depending on if the source drive is SATA or IDE. Well you know how Apple is always trying to make you give something old up to get something new.
No more OS 9... No more Classic Mode... No more PPC apps...
Happy to move the links, MTT.
MTT, here is the new Carmen Sandiego Math Detective link:
Hi Mike thanks a lot for the help on Changing my hard disk after all Jake did helped me (that day when he arrived home i was trying to do it) even when he was starving and I havent coocked yet, The operation completed succesfully!! now he bought me a new computer (Amiga One X1000) but I still use the iMac G3, anyway I just wanted to thank you! for the help.
MTT, I sent you a mail to the address you gave me, dunno whether that worked.
At least it was not returned by the mail server until now.
I got mail
Sorry to hear about the TaoTe mischief comrade.
Funny thing, I did neither receive a notification about your guestbook entry (3x8bit(at)gmail(dot) com nor do I know the uploaded app or recall uploading it.
Either the database is faulty or my memory is even worse than I thought.
Re-guarding your Dual 533 (G4 Digital Audio??) I WOULD totally try to get it fixed. This is easily one of the best G4 towers for light/average/home server use EVER. I upgraded my sisters with two hard-drives (fast Hitachi drives with Carbon Copy Cloner), Full-Ram upgrade, DVD+R, DL Burner, Radeon 9800 Pro, USB 2.0 Card and a bunch of little extras. SHE LOVES IT!!! She recently had a chance to trade up to a pretty powerful DualCore Penium D Tower running Ubuntu, but after playing with it, said no way!
If it is just a power supply, you can find one on ebay for next to nothing, and if it is a logic-board, would still be under $40.00.
This is one to keep going!!! Just my 2 cents.
Regarding the Umax SuperMac SSW disk, I have copied your RS upload to my account there (simple transfer...no D/L or U/L). Below is a link you can use, if you like, if your current links die.
I'm prepared to post that iBook to you, sans laptop bag (which was a pretty cool Targus 12" job) in the USA, rather than a realtively unknown member of the forum in Chile. Also, I think it has a better chance getting to the USA intact. Wouldn't even know where to begin sending something to Chile?
If you are still interested (It plays everything nicely in native OS9, although video RAM may be an issue with some more recent game titles) give me an email using the link on my posts.
I'll be in touch... tho I live in NSW not the USA
hi mike tom do you hapened to have the mavios beacon 2.0 software it looks like from the site u gaved me they deleted it it was in media fire but its been removed , i would also apreciate a copy of the manual as pdf as well just to read about it and have a better explanation on how to use it marco:)
I don't see the ads (R18+ or otherwise) because I have the Ghostery addon installed in my browser. You use SeaMonkey, right? I tested SeaMonkey with and without Ghostery and the ads do not appear when Ghostery is installed and set to block all trackers. The link protection has been essential for the security of the files that I host on RapidShare for the Garden. Since I installed it I have not had a single takedown of any file.
You are curious about where I get the files I upload....Well realMYST came from a torrent a while ago and I have been waiting for the "right time" to upload here. Myst Exile was my own copy (again waiting for the moment). Most files I source from the Adventure Legends website. A small but significant fraction of files there are Hybrids with a Mac partition, even though it is not stated....the problem is in identifying them. The d/l's from there usually require some processing on a Windows machine before they are in convenient form for the Garden. Some items I buy on ebay. I am happy to pay more than peanuts because I only buy items that I have an interest in, and want for myself...but I upload them here as well. Lately, I have been going through a large collection of items that Soudesune sent me on a portable HD...there are a lot of gems there still to be uploaded here. Other files that I host are the ones that IIGS User finds and makes pages for. Currently I host over 150 GB of files in RapidShare for the Garden...I think they are reasonably safe as RS have been taking major steps to protect themselves, and fortunately those steps have not impacted on the usefulness of RS (for me).
