An enhanced rerelease of Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness.

Description (Wikipedia):
Warcraft II is a real time strategy game (RTS), in other words the contenders play at the same time and continuously, so that players have to move quickly. In Warcraft II one side represents the Human habitants of Lordaeron and allied races, and the other controls the invading Orcs and their allied races. Each side tries to destroy the other by collecting resources and creating an army. The game plays in a medieval setting with fantasy elements. Both sides have melee, ranged, naval and aerial units, and spellcasters.

Odd information. In the end I got the BNE lan game working on a different machine (iMac G3) that was on the same wired network the Quicksilver was and the AppleTalk connection worked flawlessly. As far as the original Warcraft user manuals go, it specifically mentioned that TCP/IP was for over the Internet games, whereas IPX and AppleTalk was for LAN games. I will try the original and the expansion versions, but my gut says it's something to do with the fact that the Cube is not on a wired connection. I might get a long Ethernet and try it out just to see if that's the fact.

According to this you need to use TCP/IP (not Appletalk) and the original Mac version of Warcraft II (not the Battlenet Edition). The Battlenet Edition only runs on IPX.

"It should be noted that the original Mac version of Warcraft II did support TCP/IP play, so the only new mulitplayer feature on the Mac side was playability on Battle.net."

Can anyone please tell me how to set up a LAN game for this?
I am using a Apple Airport Extreme - PowerMac G4 Quicksilver connected to AE via an Ethernet cable, and the G4 Cube in the kitchen is connected to the same network via Wi-Fi. When I create a AppleTalk game on the G4 Cube, the Quicksilver can see the host game flashing (appearing and disappearing) and even if I press to join the game, nothing happens on both computers. Both OS Installs are the same.

Simple solution to Classic Mac OS issue: Burn the .toast image to disk using Disk Utility. It should find the disk and install after that.

@gajbooks: if you can, boot into OS 9 and install. Classic Mac OS and OS X differs in the way a pathway is written, ie IIRC Classic uses : for a new level, X (and Classic under X) uses /
Else you can try to install under Sheepshaver and then copy the game folder to your real Mac.
HTH!

It's not just used items on Amazon, just add it to the cart and you get fresh new CD.

I see used items only, but an Amazon buy link is a fine and very desired addition here.
