For Mac OS 9
Emulation
This game works with: SheepShaver,

Beats all Mac OS 9 WWII simulators. Newer than my last upload (Warbirds 2.75) and comes with more interesting locations. I still haven't found the hi-res artwork for this. If someone does find it please tell me. I'll be able to add it to the simulator.

... wouldn't finding or changing the key for shooting be located under the "Setup" button? (see 3rd pic above)

It would indeed. Thanks for the dose of common sense. Rat-a-tat-a-tat!

... EXCEPT I can't find the key to shoot!

I've not played this game, but wouldn't finding or changing the key for shooting be located under the "Setup" button? (see 3rd pic above)

This game runs well on my 450 MHz Power Mac G4 Cube with OS J1-9.2.2.

Man I used to have Warbirds III and it was a world of difference from this one. This one ran pretty well for me on a PowerMac 9500/133 and my old Umax 250mhz G3

The key pad is mainly used for panning the views. I don't know if it works on a powerbook.

There was a readme file included in the download (alternative link). It says about the minimum requirements:

- PowerPC based Macintosh or compatible computer.
- Apple's MacOS version 7.5.3 or higher.
- 32 MB physical RAM

No specific CPU requirements stated unfortunately. On the PC side they recommend at least a 200 Mhz Pentium though. This may help for comparison.

I wonder about something else: Is this game actually playable on a PowerBook due to the lack of a Numpad?

Considering the huge leaps in processor speeds with the PPC it would be great if folks always included the minimum MHz for the flying games. However, even in the Manual one can't find the minimum processor speed for this game.

Good point. I've got a 700 MHz imac and it works pretty great.

You need a pretty fast processor for this version. My 80 MHz PPC just couldn't handle this one very well. I recommend version 2.75 if you're experiencing the same http://macintoshgarden.org/games/warbirds
