Guides on emulating older games

Time Treks is a game built around a hypertext almanac of world history. By quickly navigating it on timed scavenger hunts, among many other challenges, you can retake Time Doors from the Time Tyrants and save the past from being rewritten.

timetreks_dsk.sit contains DiskDup images of the 800K install media. There's no installer application; the files must be extracted and organized manually. timetreks_folder.sit contains a freshly assembled copy of the game.

Dragging the Time Treks stack onto the included copy of HyperCard 2.1 is recommended, as it is incompatible with other versions of HyperCard you may have installed.

Version: 1.0

Architecture: 68k

This game pushes HyperCard to its limits, and seems to be incompatible with any available emulator. The Plus and SE incarnations of Mini vMac freeze before play can get underway, while in Basilisk II and SheepShaver, a "No such window" error makes playing more than one round impossible. The Mac II Mini vMac will play the game, except that the clock on timed questions remains stuck at zero.

If you place this game on a disk image, be aware that it requires several megabytes of free space to occasionally compact itself.
