Notice: We are still missing bonuses found in the "Deluxe Edition" and "Double Deluxe" discs, including "The Sims Creator", plus 1st party downloadable content once hosted by Maxis for others to download. If you still happen to have any of those, please upload them here! More info on Wikipedia.

The original Sims 1 from Maxis. For those who somehow don't know, The Sims lets you simulate humans. You can customize their personalities, clothing, their houses, and even their jobs. It basically simulates life in a slightly unrealistic fashion (the time is fast-forwarded in a sense that 1 minute = 1 second in real life).

The original release and the first two expansion packs Livin' Large and House Party were Classic applications compatible with Mac OS 8.1 and later. After the release of Mac OS X, there were separate Carbon updates, which ran on Mac OS 8.6 with CarbonLib 1.2.5 later installed. Later release expansion packs starting with Hot Date were released as Carbon-only applications.

About the updaters for The Sims 1.1.5 following the initial update from v. 1.1 :

Aspyr has released two The Sims updates. One update is for classic MacOS while the Carbon update will work on OS X and MacOS (if you have CarbonLib 1.2.5 or later installed).

The Sims Carbon is an update to the original (1.x) version of The Sims for Macintosh, and as such requires an existing installation of the The Sims 1.x. The Sims Carbon cannot be used to update an existing installation of The Sims Livin' Large or The Sims House Party.

Once you have installed The Sims Carbon under either Mac OS 8/9 or Mac OS X, you can play The Sims Carbon under either Mac OS environment without reinstalling it.

On Mac OS 8.6 or 9.x, The Sims Carbon requires CarbonLib 1.2.5 or later to be installed.

DL #1: The Sims v. 1.1 for Mac OS 8/9, released 2000
The ReadMe states that it requires Mac OS 8.1 at least. Does not seem compatible with Mac OS 9.2.2

DL #2: Updater to v. 1.1.5 for Mac OS 8/9 (Classic), released 2001. Compatible with Mac OS 9.2.2

DL #3: Updater that adds Carbon v. 2.0.1 for Mac OS X, released 2001.

DL #4: Updater of v. 1.1.5 to 1.1.6 (Classic) and v. 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 (Carbon). Released 2002.

DL #5: A NoCD. Mount with Virtual CD/DVD-ROM Utility on Classic Mac or Toast in Mac OS X.

@Bolkonsji i used to play this game when i was very little on a imac from 2005 which eventually something failed hardware-wise and i used to if my memory serves me correctly go on that website when i was 2-4 years old i do have a very good and yet tragic memory of things that happened when i was little

Works great on a Power Mac G4 running 9.2.2. Haven't played it for 10+ years and it is still fun. Highly recommend it playing with your kids (if you've got any) - create a family mimicing yourselves and give them a house. The kids will have great fun watching their virtual counterparts. Mine loved it. ("Look what mommy is doing!") So highly recommended if you've got (little) kids Smile

I seem to remember there was a lot of downloadable content on the official Sims site. My memory doesn't remember though if it was Macintosh compatible. Does anyone know?

If so, it might be cool to preserve these too on the Garden.

-->Crack file is empty<--

It is not empty. The files are invisible. Just mount the NoCD image according to the instructions and it will work (i.e. it will allow you to play the game)

Is there a NO CD or crack for this game? I mounted the image with Toast but it still asks for the CD after installing.

I have just uploaded the Superstar updater but have not edited the Notice above in the "yellow" box, since it refers to expansions, rather than updaters to expansions. Not quite sure if it was intended to mean the updaters but, as it stands, it does not.

EDIT: BTW, I do have the expansions requested in the notice, along with others in The Sims series, but I do not see the point of adding them here as they are already contained in The Sims Complete Collection

Added a notice mentioning The Sims content still missing from this page (though most, but not all, of them are findable in the "Complete Collection" version hosted in another page in the Garden), though there's also the "The Sims 2 preview disc" included with "The Sims Full House" that I did not mention even in the notice, which might also be of interest...

In fact, I think all of those repackaged editions and expansion compilations are deserving each of their own page, even if a lot of the content repeats itself, from an archival point-of-view.

According to my booklet for Sims & Livin' Large, the minimum configuration is at least OS 8.1, G3 233Mhz, 64MB RAM, 2MB VRAM, 8X CD-Rom, 350MB free space with an additional 175MB for Livin' Large, a monitor and video card capable of 800x600 and thousands of colors.

@mrdav: Yes, I search for the updater v1.2.2 for "Livin' Large" as it is no more findable on the internet. The full version is not allowed to be uploaded until EA dies in a hopefully near future.

----->The link for the expansion "Livin' Large" leads into nowhere<-----

I have a copy of the "Livin' Large" expansion pack, but I will only put it here if an admin says it is OK. It is not really an updater as it was a CD that had to be purchased.

EDIT: On reflection, I cannot see how it can be allowed here, given the EA edict.

EDIT AGAIN: Ah...You are referring to an updater to the expansion pack? Well then that is OK, in which case what I said above is not relevant.

The download links for the Updaters at Macgamefiles dont work any longer !
I found the files at Aspyr by adding the updater's file name to (*). Aspyr is abandoning support for Mac OS X 10.6 and earlier. So I archived the files here for the future.

The link for the expansion "Livin' Large" leads into nowhere and I do not know the updater's file name, so I cannot search for it on Aspyr's file server. If you know the original file name, please write it in the comments, so I can add it as well.
