This game works with: SheepShaver,

Another Myst-like adventure. According to the reviews, this one came rather late to the party and had rather a short overall game.

The storyline is set in the future, where the protagonist is sent to another planet to investigate the source of a cryptic message from an evil alien race. The player begins the game having crash-landed on the planet and must explore the world, find a crystal key and portal which would help the player defeat the race and bring peace to the galaxy.

Thanks anyway. I even tried burning one of the Toast images to disc, but no luck.

Three possible culprits;
– Classic under OS X; not every game/app runs well or at all under this
– HFS+; paths are defined/written in a different way compared to the earlier HFS which can cause errors when older apps looking for resources
- Disk Utility; best results working from disk images is using Toast or Virtual DVD-ROM/CD-ROM Utility for mounting within the emulated OS. Else use Prefs of SS/BasII and make sure the images are locked.

These are just possibilities; it might as well be Mac OS 9.2.2 being too new to an old game as the game itself being impossible getting to recognize anything outside the CD-ROM HW of an real Mac.

I'm on a G5 in Classic with OS 9.2.2, HFS+, mounted by Disk Utility. Also tried on a G4 booted into 9.2.2 - same error.

Under which conditions is this; Emulation/The Real Thing, OS version, HFS or HFS+, Images mounted with which application.

My copy doesn't recognize the disk image as the game CD, keeps giving me errors, won't go past the setup screen.
