See the votes this little racer is getting?
Works in Classic Environment for all OSX versions with Classic (up to 10.4.11).
Yes the icon is one of the game's vehicles (a bad view of it).
recap: the best 3D graphics I've seen in any program: *without needing any GPU.

I just uploaded some screenshots which do Tanaka justice.

"... requires a ... 3D accelerator card."
Not here. I'm playing on an Overclocked OS 9.2.1 machine which has no GPU, and Tanaka moves into my #1 Best 3D Graphics without-a-GPU spot (pushing out the game "PayBack"). Incredible here how much sound and graphics come in 24MB, you wouldn't believe I got no GPU if you saw this. Typically the addition of a GPU could make a big QuickDraw game do better, render in more detail, faster : some QD3D games reduce their rendering complexity when without a GPU ("WaterRace" & "Nanosaur"), but Tanaka looks fully dressed and fast. "WipeOut 2097" is very similar game, but one that won't run without a 3D card. [actually old versions of WipeOut can run without the GPU but they just drool out less than 3 frames per second = unplayable.]

What's up with this icon, though? My expectations were low after seeing what looks like a blender floating in urine. I still don't know what it is, maybe an overhead view of a vehicle.

On my Wallstreet the game seemingly requires a QuickDraw 3D accelerator card! I've never previously heard of it.

Glad you pointed that out so quickly! It appears to be a problem with the site. I have updated the page with a link that should work now. Also, the mediafire link still points to the zip for those who might want it.

toastline, your new download link is not currently working.
Here's the original zip file:

I've replaced the zip with a sit, so as to fix the problems from the earliest comments. If someone has a working version of the one posted by Protocol 7 in 2010, that would be even better.

Here's another copy I found. It's an actual installer this time, version 1.0.4 (vs the 1.0.3 copy here). It doesn't have the evaluation version text on the menu screen, so I think it's the full "retail" version. Seems a bit big to be the demo.

It is for mac...
Happens the same here untill i found the problem... it was compressed under Mac OS X environment. So, unzip it under mac os x, and it will work (even on classic).

This game can be so fast that your head will hurt if you play it for a extense period. ( not like that pokemon episode...)

Did this get compressed on a PC? None of the files have working mime-types or creator information. Would it be to presumptuous to ask that someone with the non-broken files archive them using stuffit on the mac?
