The full version of SAIS includes 21 different ship types, 69 different weapons, drives, shields, gadgets and artifacts, 18 alien lifeforms, 17 different planet and star types and 7 unique alien races.

uh-huh. when the OSX-only version is trick launched in OS9,
it acts Strange about finding the "mods" (aftermarket modifications), but by making more specific tweaks to the folders it looks like the mods might then work, but I dunno how yet to verify operation of the supplied mods.

I've made other seemingly OSX-only games run in OS9, and then troubles with load/save are common.
Thanx for the new-old version.

There was an official OS 9 version too, which I've just added to this page.

Page facts say this is OSX only, but I poked around the download and found that I can make it run in OS9 if I unpack the "show package contents" using OSX and then xfer the resulting nest of folders to OS9. Love this one, techno-art.

Please take a look to its successor development, Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space,
which also has been created for Macintosh, as Mobygames tell.
