Guides on emulating older games

In Jedi Outcast, you once again play Kyle Katarn, star of LucasArts' Star Wars-inspired 1st-person shooter Star Wars: Dark Forces. Chronologically taking place after the second Star Wars Trilogy, you'll meet various well known people from the original Star Wars movies like Luke Skywalker himself and Lando Calrissian. Also following the tradition of its predecessors, you explore the surroundings in the typical 3D environment and can use a lot of different weapons and gear from the Star Wars Universe, including the famous Jedi Weapon, the light sabre. (MobyGames).

The 2nd download at top-right is an unsupported beta update that addresses a few issues in the single player game. To install, drag the "Jedi Knight II (Rev D Beta)" application into your existing Jedi Knight II game folder. It will not replace your existing game application. The old Aspyr support page for this is now only accessible via the Wayback Machine.

Someone on YouTube using the name raptor5120 has taken the audio from this game and made a great CGI Lego animated version (only one 16 minute episode so far) using Blender.

I couldn't get the updater working in 9 as it came as a DMG I tried the beta version of disk-copy that supposedly could mounts them, DMG2IMG, as well as trying on OS X to mount them. But that only resulted in files OS 9 thought couldn't be run (could that be snow leopards fault?). But the game does run fine now without the updates.

Thank you everyone for your help. I'm not sure exactly why it decided to work suddenly after messing around with it some more. SkyCapt suggested copying the device drivers from 9.2.2 which didn't work at first, but gave me the idea to install 9.2.2 which at first didn't work I'd get a type 1 error instead and the system ran slower on the desktop. So I downgraded again which involved clean installing, eventually I for some reason reinstalled 9.2.2 a second time and it's not as slow anymore and the game finally launched (maybe that had to do with the extensions as WhosIt.There suggested I tried to disable most of them before upgrading originally to no success) or maybe something is wrong with my HDD (the HDD is an original one so it possible) I keep getting errors especially on OS installs saying it "fixed problems with the HDD", but no files have been lost as of yet. Still have not gotten the game to run on any lower versions of 9 let alone 9.1 even in tests with qemu, but I'll just not question it. Hopefully this might be of some help in the future to someone trying to run Jedi knight 2 jedi outcast in OS 9.

Try getting an update for the drivers of the graphics card. Like copy the driver files from out of an OS v9.2.2 System Folder/Extensions/

I didn't ever get to try it because my OS9 Mac was too slow when I bought the game, but the specs above are definitely the same as on the original box I have.

The transfer of the .sit archive from a Windows PC shouldn't be any problem. It's only when you extract the archives on a Windows PC and then transfer the unarchived files that you get corrupted files.

Have you used the updater included above?

If you've installed other Control Panels / Extensions, then it may be clashing with one of those. You could try using OS 9's Extension Manager to boot with a more limited add-ons list.

Does this really run on Mac OS 9? I tried several times with a couple different download sources, but when ever I try to launch it I get "The application 'Jedi Knight II' has unexpectedly quit, because an error of type 3 occurred." Upon googling it I find type 3 means dsIllInstErr illegal instruction error which didn't help me much.

I'm running 9.2.1 with 512 MB of ram on an Imac G3 2001 virtual memory is enabled providing a total of 6107MB
Only thing I could think of is I downloaded it on a Windows machine as a .sit and transferred it over by flash drive before extracting it, but it hadn't been a problem with other games. Any advice would be appreciative.

How to use the nocds?
Just replace the patched versions for the originals (make a previous backup of them, if you want to).

This game's got mad cheat codes available. Fly thru walls and kill your enemies by throwing your lighted Light Sabre at them then have it return to you like a boomerang! Rich sound fx. And I've a feeling the screen resolution can go HD and/or portrait-style.

I tried to play it, but it always says "No CD in Drive". I tried to Mount the Toast-File in Toast 11 and to burn it. Nothing worked.

I downloaded and installed this game, but when I tried to open it, it said, "Jedi Knight II has encountered a problem. aglChoosePixelFormat failed." Does anybody know what is going on? Thanks in advance for your help.
