This game works with: SheepShaver, Basilisk II, Mini vMac

Capture the flags and destroy the other tanks in a polygonal 3D world. Similar to the Battlezone vector arcade game in style and gameplay, but with new elements from deathmatch/CTF-style games. This first Spectre game was exclusively for Macintosh, though some later iterations for other machines were also simply called "Spectre."

1st download is the game.
2nd download is the World Editor by John Lindal, that lets you edit the world grid and colors.

Read more at Wikipedia.

See the sequels: Spectre Supreme and Spectre VR.

There is now an iPhone version of Spectre.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k

Mac Plus or later, System 6.0.3 or later, b/w or 16 or 256 colors.

Holy sh!t. I saw this game when I was 3 or so, then never again. And I haven't thought of it since. Almost three decades later, I see the game screenshot. Epiphany ensues.

Probably the first 3D game (or 3D anything) I have ever seen in my life.

Recently had the joy of playing this one over AppleTalk with Knezzen, who ran it on a SE/30 and me on a PowerBook 5xx. Worked really well and is a fun game still, though every player more adds to the experience. (really a game for an old fashioned LAN gaming meet-up)

Anyway, added a world editor to this page that allows to customize the game world grid.

A super, super, super game. Reminds me of the old Arcade wireframe tank game Wink

I've updated the archive to include the beta version (in a disk image) and some other variations I found, and added some accurate screenshots. Pics of the game's packaging are in the archive.

I've added a beta version that I found on a recent conquest. The title screen text is different and there's no filled/vector option button (you can only play vector). Also there's no mention of Velocity in this beta, just Peninsula Gameworks.

Got the whole package and disk from eBay, so I've scanned and imaged everything and uploaded all, incorporating the original archive into the new one.
