Souls in the System is the fastest, loudest top-view arcade adventure for the Macintosh. The stunning visuals will astound you. The incredible, unrelenting music and stereo sound effects will mesmerize you. With lightning quick gameplay and over 25 levels of pulse-pounding action, Souls in the System will test the skill and strategy of even the most experience game players. From the creative team who brought you ShadowWraith, comes a game with the best in high-end features including a horde of cybernetic enemies, a vast array of weaponry, full network play, and a film recorder so you can relive your battles over and over. - Information from the software box

Note: A bin/cue image that has this game and all 13 audio tracks is also available as the second disc image in the 10 Tons of Fun compilation by StarPlay, but it was archived incorrectly and the audio is crappola.

Thanks to sailingdarter. At long last we now at last have a good copy above.

Well, I took one for the team.

I found the game on this auction

And I bought it and tried it on a vintage Mac to make sure that the music worked (and it did)

So now we can all enjoy the music to Souls in the System while playing. While you could find the game before online it either had no music or the music was a bad recording.

Have Fun everyone

If anyone here uses Facebook, come and join the ShadowWraith & Souls in the System fan group I set up. I intend to use it as a hub to discuss both of these games specifically, since I can't find anywhere else to do so. I'm curating lots of links to useful content related to running these games there.

My dad got this on our PM 6100 back in the late 90s, had the soundtrack. If I can find that I'll see if I can share it Smile

EDIT: Seems it's CD 2. I know it's not the original-original game, but from trying to burn it, seems it has the soundtrack Smile

EDIT 2: Youtube user ArcMoonblade turns out to have the original CD. I only know how to make an image from Disk Copy. If y'all wanna show him how to make a .toast image go ahead!

This plays well enough in Basilisk II, but there's no music. It needs a CD image.

Yeah, and the best thing is, I still have old macintosh and original copy of this and it's predecessor Shadow Wraith, for these two games are the best games on macintosh.
Altough there are huge amount of good games for ol' good mac.

I upped this for the original Mac Garden. Original copies of this game are very hard to find!

Works perfectly on actual PowerMac hardware in systems 7-9.

Fun little action game.

Runs best in Basilisk II with Mac OS 7 or later. I ran into a few graphical glitches and an occasional hang when running in SheepShaver with Mac OS 8.6.

Edit: Changed 'xxx 7' to 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User
