Emulation
Guides on emulating older games

Globox, a friend of Rayman, has placed the world into a deadly possibility. By eating Andre, the Lord of the Dark Lums, Globox has enraged the Hoodlums, who plan to take back their master no matter what the cost to the world around them. It's up to Rayman to save the day and find a cure to rid the Dark Lord from Globox. Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a 3D third-person platform game. Rayman, the main hero, jumps and punches his way through numerous colorful levels, with Globox (and Andre inside him) tagging along and occasionally commenting on the goings-on. Rayman's main weapon is his fist; he can use it to shoot projectiles at the attacking Hoodlums and other foes, and the projectiles are more powerful when the fist is charged by holding down the "shoot" button. (MobyGames)

The game installs in English, French, German. Spanish, and Italian.

The 4th download is the updater to version 1.02
The 5th download is a NoCD for v. 1.0.2 necessary to play the game. I could not get the NoCD to work in Mac OS 9, but it works OK on Mac OS X
The 6th download is a demo that installs in all the above languages.

Game plays on G4 under no-Altivec mode, but I just learned that is because I'm (of course) skipping the first big movie "cutscene" after starting a New game. But, when allowing the movie to playout, game Unexpectedly Quits in the movie's middle just as the 'hoodlums' are about to wreak havoc - this crash ain't there when the G4 is in its 'expected' Altivec mode. It's too bad this game crashes at all, since it is G3 compliant.

Altivec turned off (using Tiger of course) has become my normal state, for about one year so far, and I'm still lovin' it. That's why I notice and document these vec issues. I turn Altivec back on in intervals to do things which require Altivec, such as booting into Leopard...

fun. StuffIt 5.5 format can be built using higher versions whenever, in its preferences, the compression type is set for "fastest". I forget v7 - 7.0.3 was also made for OS9, forget because I documented a nasty bug in v7-v9 in which some archives won't uncompress, error -39 I think it was, so I stopped using v7-v9. Can StuffIt v7 unpack .sitx in OS9 ? I'll check it myself...

I found a version of the 1.0.2 demo that is OK on a MacAddict disc. I will make a StuffIt 5.5 archive of the demo soon and replace the existing.

EDIT: Done.

have u tried running it (the demo installer) ? I can't unstuff it using v6 - says unrecognized compression, but higher versions of StuffIt do unpack it - this usually means it's .sitx format which OS9 can't decode, but, even after unstuffing in OSX the demo installer is corrupt and won't execute, says a variety of error msgs depending on StuffIt version.

StuffIt Expander v7.0.3 in OSX Tiger unpacks without error msg, but trying to run it says error unexpected endoffile. This is v1.0.2 Demo, I already have Demo v1.0.0 but it's got that freeze bug problem mentioned in the changelog readme. The patch Updater for game v1.0.2 won't modify demo 1.0.0

I think I got this off a Wayback Machine archive of a Feral page and am not sure what version of Stuffit was used. However, I have found that UnStuffit 7.0.3 works to unpack it, but 5.5 does not.

The DEMO download isn't working 4me, anyone else? It runs in OS9 therefore cannot be Stuffed with .sitx and preferably stuffed in v5.5 format.

Std install +update +crack ignores disc3 which contains movies and music, so add them manually! When you don't have disc3, launching the game will jump directly to main menu, otherwise there are supposed to be intro logos for Feral and Zonic. Don't bother burning disc3, it isn't fooling the copy protection (shhh don't tell anybody else).

After a standard install, mount disc3 and copy the over 600MB "Videos" folder to your "Rayman 3/Data/" folder (so then you got "Rayman 3/Data/Videos/"). Then you can unmount and forget all about disc3 and you should have the Feral intro logo when launching plus the other in-game movies and music.

Shout out to John Leguizamo for his voice acting in this game.
Great big game, reminds me of the first "Spyro the Dragon" but with HD graphics and some crude humor, less than all-ages maybe. I feel, smell, cheat codes are in the air.

There's a weird old Demo version which barely feels like the same game, but the Demo allows you to jump straight into a megafunky bonus round named "Psychedelic Rails" and jump straight into a wicked level named "Dangerous Mission" in which you are in a teetering old wooden victorian house being chased by a mad scientist shooting a musket at you, anyone care to upload Demo?

The 3rd disc is only needed for a full install (disc 3 contains a video folder). The 3rd disc also contains SafeDisc copy protection and it looks like the installer recognises that the disc is not original and ejects it. However, the standard install only requires discs 1 and 2, and the noCD removes the requirement of mounting an original 3rd disc to play the game.

Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havor didn't work on Power Mac G4 1.25 Ghz mirror door 2003 in Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Mac OS X 10.5.8. I installed the game in full install and put in first CD and 2nd CD without a problem in Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.4.11 and Mac OS X 10.5.8 but the when I put in third CD in the computer the game eject the CD in all systems. When the third CD inserted in computer and it will eject the CD when inserted. I stop the installing the game when this happen.

First of all I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU!!!! The multi5 version cannot be found anywhere! I am Italian so your version is amazing Laughing out loud
The bad news is that it doesn't work without the CD 3. And you didn't upload the NoCD patch.
