Guides on emulating older games

Can you imagine what the planet Earth will be like in 1500 years? And what would happen if one day you traveled inadvertently to the future? Well that's just what happened to Nico, the protagonist of this adventure…With this game the child will review: Language, Mathematics, Science, Geography and History (Sourced from Adventure Legends).

The game plays in Spanish.

The disc image contains Mac, Win and Linux versions of the game.

To install the Mac version, run the Terminal shell script setupMac.command in OS X. You need Terminal installed (obviously) and Java.

Comments on installation:

After installation, I found that the following actions in Terminal were required to get the game to run:

Firstly, the game file needed to be made executable, so change to the game directory using

cd ~/CMY\ Multimedia/Nico\ en\ el\ Planeta\ Robot

(Note that there is a single space following each \ symbol)

and execute the following:

sudo chmod a+x Nico.command

The game looks for the library file libfreetype.6.dylib in /usr/local/lib but in my case there was no such directory. So I created the directory and copied all the dylib files in the game directory over to /usr/local/lib (but I think only libfreetype.6.dylib needs to be copied). This was done with the following terminal commands:

sudo mkdir /usr/local/lib
sudo cp *.dylib /usr/local/lib

Now the game will start up when you double click on the file Nico.command in the Finder, although some non-fatal errors show up in the command window which becomes visible after you quit the game.
