Emulation
This game works with: Basilisk II,

Maelstrom was one of the hottest early 90s shareware games for the Macintosh. The game was written in Think C and consists of 18,000 lines of C code and 9,000 lines of inline assembler for the speed-critical portions of the game.

This is version 1.3 - Archived as Disk Copy 6.3 "img" and compressed using StuffIt 3.6 for better backwards compatibility. This version isn't time bombed, it's an original shareware version, licensed for distribution if unchanged & complete (it is).

A note about the downloads available from above:

[See Also]: Maelstrom GPL v3.0.6 a GPL'd free version for classic PPC Mac OS and PPC OS X.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k

System Software 6.0.7 or later and a 68020 CPU or higher. Requires 256 colors or grey scale. I have this on my G4 Mac running OS 9.0.4 with no problems. Runs great.
Also runs great on Basilisk II as long as the B-II display is set to 256 colors.

Oh man, one of the greatest of its day!! Ambrosia was such a big part of my younger years, it's such a shame that they're gone now.

I can upload version 1.3, which appears to be a publicly distributed shareware version. Info-mac has version 1.4.2, which has a 30-day trial.

Wonder if I can grab the older version from 1992-1993 or so that was on my parents' machine. No clue if they even still have the computer. Man, I seriously need to go through my old stuff.

You could still host an older version (which I think this was?), since the latest one might not work on old computers (I'm guessing). Just don't supply a serial. Smile

This is not abandonware. It is still sold by Ambrosia:

But prefer to use 3.0 GPL version:
