Another collection of mainly shareware on CDs.

CD 1 mounts as CD-ROM Aktive which is also available on a separate page for Active Mac Special. That CD-ROM Aktive is also CD 1 of the Macintosh Mania set was confirmed by Vitalis who has the original CD and uploaded the disc image here.

Thanks also to Vitalis for providing the complete set of six CD images on the Internet Archive from where DLs 4, 5 & 6 are derived.

Perfect. Thank you, Vitalis. (Yes, locking via Get Info was what I meant). I have now moved your fresh copy, that has no unwanted Finder alterations, up to the top to replace the previous DL #1. We now have perfect copies of all CDs

After a fresh re-image and locking it from changes via the Finders' 'Get Info' window, I have re-uploaded CD 1.

Photos or scans of paraphernalia (media, boxes, etc) are definitely permitted!

Vitalis, thank you for the clarification. I have moved your copy of MacMania 1 to the top, replacing the previous DL #1. I have also removed your copies of MacMania 2 and 3 as they are not needed. However, thank you for uploading all three discs to give us some options. Since your copy of MacMania 1 has been written to by the Finder on Feb 16, It would still be good if you could find time to re-image the CD and LOCK the image immediately to prevent changes before re-uploading.

I own all the CDs, so I am sure it's correct. As proof I've also uploaded them on archive.com a little while back, together with photos of the boxes and CDs. I wanted to upload the cover photo of all the boxes on here as well, but since the picture upload box said screenshots and not photos I wasn't sure whether I should.

When I saw that 1, 2 and 3 where already available here, I uploaded only the missing discs. Then I also uploaded the first three discs after I saw the notice in case it would help.

You can find them here:
https://archive.org/details/mac-mania-2

I created the disc images and uploaded them all after finding that only a few of the other discs were on archive.com that I could find, which reminded me that I had access to the rest/all 6 of them, and wanted to make the entire set available.

Hope that information helps!

Vitalis, thank you for your uploads (DLs 7 - 9). You say they are of original CDs, but I have to ask if they really are images of CDs in your possession. The reason I ask is that your copy of MacMania 1 is actually a copy of a CD called Active Mac Special by the same publisher that we have here. If you do have the original CD then it proves that the publisher just relabelled Active Mac Special as MacMania 1 which is useful for us to know.

I guess your uploads might have been a response to the request on the page for a pristine copy of MacMania 3. Unfortunately all of your disc images have been written to by the Finder on 16th Feb so they are no improvement on the previous copies apart from potentially resolving the confusion about MacMania 1.

The copy of MacMania 2 (DL #2) uploaded by OS923 in 2015, looks pristine and does not need replacing. DL #3 for MacMania 3 needs replacing, but I discovered that I actually had that CD all along (it was mislabelled by the publisher). I will make have made a good copy without Finder artefacts, and replace replaced the previous DL #3. So your copies of MacMania 2 and 3 are redundant; however, your copy of MacMania 1 is important if you can confirm that you have an original CD. If that is the case, can you please make a new image of the CD for upload and then LOCK the disc image immediately. This will prevent the Finder from writing to the disc image if you mount it to have a look, and you will have a pristine copy of the CD. If you upload this, I will also replace the copy on the Active Mac Special page as this also contains Finder artefacts.

@MTT. In a comment on another page you agreed that DL 1 & 2 above are the same. My suspicion is that the publisher just republished #1 and labelled it #2. In support of this idea, have a look at the Internet Archive page here. The two items "Macintosh Mania" and "Macintosh Mania 1" seem to have identical content to me when I compared them after downloading. They also seem to have the same content as DLs 1 & 2 here. The interesting thing is that one of the Internet Archive items displays a picture of an original CD for "Macintosh Mania 1" so it would be reasonable to expect that the corresponding DL would be #1 in the series. We could replace the 1st DL above with that IA item but I am not sure it is worth it since it is the same as the 2nd DL

EDIT: CD #1 in the six volume upload of Macintosh Mania on the Internet Archive has the wrong disc image (the Active Mac Special CD that we have archived here).

It seems to me that the content of the 2nd D/L on the internal server is identical to the content in the 1st D/L. So the image labelled MacMania 2 is not in fact the missing second MacMania CD, but is just a different image of the first MacMania CD. Consequently we are still looking for the second CD in the series.

EDIT: I might have found the missing 2nd CD...will know soon No, not found.

MacMania 3 now reuploaded.

The second archive file seems to be corrupted so StuffIt Expander is unable to decompress it.
MD5 (MacMania 3.toast.sit) = 8f8fdfe4ecb9b8b4ef04b411f1695c90

The first archive file (MacMania.toast.sit) is ok and decompresses.
Could you please re-upload a working archive file for second link, please ?
